chapter 8

Constantine's P.O.V

I woke up this morning by the sound of my screaming mother . I jumped out my bed and ran to the bathroom . After taking a shower I put on a white shirt that said " Like A Boss" , red jeans ,white nike sneakers, and my favorite leather jacket. I applied my daily makeup and release my hair from the messy bun . I ran downstairs grabbed an apple and a granola bar and headed to the front door . When I was about to open the door the door bell rang, I opened it and saw Jonathan .

"Jonathan I really can't talk right now I'm  running late for school." I said but right when I was about to push Jonathan out the way a man came from behind him and said

"Hello Constantine"

"Um, Hi"

"Oh, how rude of me I'm the police chief . I'm here on behave of the murder investigation."

"oh" I said with my eyes on a very quiet Jonathan . Jonathan's father must have noticed because he turned and looked at Jonathan then back at me .

" Do you guys know each other ?"

"yea-"

"No, she only knows me cause i was the officer that questioned her."

He looked at Jonathan not believing a word he just said and turned back to me to see if I would deny but I was so shocked , disappointed ,and angry I couldn't speak. The fact that he lied about knowing me got me really pissed. If looks could kill he would be six feet under by now.

"Alright then , Constantine lets get you to the police station for DNA samples ."

"Fine but i have to be in school before lunch is over ."

"Don't worry we talked to your principal " he said lead me to the car.

10 minutes

We arrived at the police station .The whole car ride I stared out the window . I would see from the corner of my eye Jonathan looking at me every now and then but i paid him no mind.We walked in and did all the crap we had to do , i was dismissed by the police chief minutes later . I was ready to leave I did not want to see Jonathan's disgusting face for another second .I was walking to the parking lot and I was suddenly pinned to the wall. The person's hard chest was pressed onto my body .  I screamed in pain and the person pulled away alittle to stopped the pain and to allow me to see their face , and it was Jonathan.

"What do you want?"

"Why are you mad?"

"You really don't know what you did wrong ."

He sighed and said " look I'm sorry , my father don't know about us , I just didnt think the best time to introduce you was while your the number one suspect in the town's top investigation."

" Us? There is no us and because of this there probably never will be." I said pushing him away from me but he mange to grab me before i made my full escape.

"I'm sorry ... wait what do you mean there's no us ? I know you and me felt a connection."

" No, you felt something you're just some stupid cop trying to throw me in jail. Now move!!"

"Constantine please don't leave."

"There's nothing to say."

"Let me take you home ."

" I wouldn't want your dad to see you with me and I can walk ."

" Constantine please" he said but it was too late , I already ran up the block.I could hear him calling but I didnt look back. I was right he's just like the others.

In School

By the time I got to school lunch was over , it was time for chemistry. I entered room 302 and saw a girl sitting in Makayla's seat. The girl had hair like a lion and she was wearing sweatpant that could fit five , an oversized hoodie and converse sneakers.I ignored the mean comments that appeared in my head and sat down.

"Um excuse me but someone else sits here." I said trying my best not to sound rude.The girl then lifted her head from the textbook and I realized it was Makayla.

"Oh my god Makayla , I thought you were someone else."

"I can see that"

" What the hell are you wearing? If this is another one of your phases its worst than when you broke up with the school's quarterback.."

"You don't understand so leave it alone."

"Is that your brother's clothes?"

"Would you just drop it !!!" She yelled and walked out the room.I wonder why she was being so defensive. For the rest of the day I didn't see Makayla , but when the bell rang after last period I saw her in the school's parking lot.

"Makayla hey wait up!"

"What do you want Constantine?"

"What the hell is going on with you ? I haven't talked to you ever since you helped me get ready for my date."

"My life is really complicated right now , you don't understand."

"I don't understand, out of all people your telling me this !! Maybe your forgetting who's being blamed for their stepsister's murder, who cops are watching,and who has a father that wants her in jail !! You have the perfect family not in a million years could I get that and you claim your life is so complicated."

"Constantine I-" I cut her off and said

" I already lost one best friend don't let me lose another. I wake up every day scared if I will every see my family and friends again. But I know I have a best friend that can help me through everything."

"Constantine I'm sorry I have to go ."

Did she not just hear my speech, what is with her ? I was going to find out either way.

Jonathan's P.O.V

"Son, can I see you for a moment ? "I heard my father calling from inside his office.

" I'm coming "

"What is with you and that girl?"

"I told you nothing."

"I saw you and her in the parking lot ." The room fell into silence because I didn't know what to say.

"Are you mad?"

"Not really , I think we can use this to our advantage."

"What do you mean?"

"Sit down and  I'll tell you."

Little did I know I would regret my decision.
