Chapter 9

Bella's Pov - 4 months later

Rapid knocking on Ricky and I's door awoke us from our sleep. Ricky untangled himself from me and went to open the door to reveal one of the pack warriors who looked scared and frantic. His clothes were ripped, his arms scathed and his hair a mess. He was covered in dirt head to toe, frantically panting.

"Sorry to disturb beta but there has been a rogue attack and they've breached the borders," The frantic warrior explained before sprinting off to most likely tell Dante next.

Just at that moment, Ricky and I both heard snarls and fighting from outside causing Ricky to sprint out the room and head outside, most likely ripping into his wolf to help defend the pack.

Alpha Aries was too unpredictable over the last few months. Ricky was more or less acting alpha at this rate therefore it was mostly on his shoulders to try and protect this pack. With the attacks growing more frequent, I was starting to worry for him. I was scared he wouldn't come back to me.

Just like Xavier.

In a panic, I quickly threw on my robe and followed the noise. By the time I reached the front door, I saw a rogue disappear into the tree line limping and Ricky yelling at Alpha Aries to calm down.

Alpha Aries was looking at Ricky in absolute fury, marching towards him. I watched in horror, my hand covering my mouth as Aries pushed Ricky to the ground, looking down at him.

"Calm down? Calm down?! You just let the very rogues that trashed our pack mates grave get away!" Aries exclaimed, spitting blood on the ground next to Ricky afterwards. It was easy to tell that even from here, Aries had taken a couple nasty hits.

I froze at his words, staring at Aries and Ricky waiting for them to elaborate. Alpha Aries caught my eye and began walking in my direction. I subconsciously took a step back, the power in Aries affecting the way I acted.

"You heard me Bella, your mate just let the bastards that trashed Xaviers grave get away. Xavier is gone and the crypt is in rubble," Aries stated before walking past me, heading to his office.

I stared at Ricky who was on the grass just watching me, waiting for my reaction. He looked scared, as if I would go out and finish what Aries started. Although, I wasn't sure how I felt. All I know is I could never forgive Ricky for letting the people who took Xavier away from me, get away.

I turned, heading back in and to my bedroom without Ricky this time.

I couldn't breathe, I was trying to gasp but no air would let itself in until suddenly a huge gasp of air engulfed my lungs causing a coughing fit.

"Fuck!" I wheezed out, trying to tame my burning lungs.

By the time I managed to get back to a normal breathing pattern, I noticed a figure standing in front of me. It was a woman, blonde, fair skin, wearing a beautiful flowing dress.

"Am I dead?" I asked, confused and delirious.

"Not quite my dear, you have unfinished business I'm afraid." The figure replied, astounding me.

"Then where am I?" I asked glancing around.

It looked like the school, except fainter and foggier with a white tinge to everything. Mist swirled around on the ground, hiding the floor.

"Purgatory. This is not heaven nor is it hell. It may look familiar to you as a method of comfort. This is where souls with unfinished business go and you, my child, fit that."

Would hardly call the school comforting but sure, let's go with that.

"Then who are you? My guardian angel?" I asked, still confused, glancing around the place.

"Not quite," She replied with a laugh. "You've heard of me, I'm the moon goddess."

"And why is the moon goddess speaking to me of all people?" I continued, desperately trying to understand what was going on, now refocusing on her.

"Because things are not what they've been perceived to be. You are strong my dear, powerful and you will take this world by storm," She explained, vaguely.

"That can't be true, My name is Xavier, I can hardly throw a punch! I'm as good as human. Whatever divine plan you think is in place for me is most likely wrong. You got the wrong guy," I rambled, staring at the moon goddess in defeat.

"I can't say much more, I've most likely said too much. But one thing you can be sure of my child, is the moon goddess is never wrong," She whispered with the wind.

Creepy.

The moon goddess began fading, blending into the mist, sending me into a frenzy.

"Wait, you can't leave, I have so many questions! What's going to happen to me?" I yelled into the mist hoping for a reply.

"You'll go back my dear, and you will live out your destiny. Be patient my child," Was the last thing I heard before the moon goddess completely disappeared into the mist without a trace.

Maybe I was dreaming? maybe I was in a coma? This couldn't be true. I was officially insane. Lock me up.

Searching around the dream like version of my school, I began opening doors but to no avail they were all locked.

What was going on? It was always the same question these days.

Panicking, I began running, searching through the halls trying to find the answer.

Wake up Xavier, Wake up!

Finding the entrance doors to the school, I began running toward them full force. I felt an energy flow through me, helping me go faster. Everything seemed clearer, more focused, it almost felt like everything was in slow motion with how fast I was running.

Then I hit the door.

It slammed open with a rattle, a shining light blinding my view. I used my arm to shield myself from the bright light and then I was back to being surrounded by nothing.

Blank, dark emptiness.

Silence.

Borderline peace.

Until the suffocating feeling began again.

And with a sharp intake of breath, My eyes flew open.
