No hero can save everyone,
but a real hero never stops trying.-Unknown.
Scarlett was leaning against the bar with a mug of Moonshine in her hands. Bellamy and the rest of the crew had returned from their mission, which they didn't full fill, but the blonde didn't blame them.
They hadn't returned with the hydro generator like they were supposed to, no. Instead they returned with fellow Arkadians and Grounders that they had saved out of the grip of the Ice Nation. Turned out they had held them captive, forcing them to do their dirty work.
Clarke, Bellamy and Raven were currently having a meeting. Scarlett politely declined when they asked her to come along. She needed one more moment of calmness before she walked right back into the storm.
As always, the moment she needed was never given to her long enough when a man over the P.A. made an announcement. "We need some medical help at the front gate. Looks like we got some sick people there."
Scarlett frowned and downed the Moonshine in one go before placing the mug on the bar and making her way outside with some urgency in her footsteps. "What's going on?" She asked when she was close enough for the guard to hear.
"Do not come any closer." He warned, but Scarlett being Scarlett, didn't listen and came closer anyway.
A man stood in front of a small group, many visibly ill and weak from the sickness. Scarlett's eyes searched every face and fell onto the man's face once again, causing her eyes to widen. "Nyko?"
He nodded, "Please, Blu Gona. They need Skaikru medicine." The blonde was taken back by the use of her Grounder name. She hadn't heard it in a while and she was somewhat glad that she's still worthy of it.
"Move. Stand back." Her head whipped around, noticing Bellamy, Clarke, Abby, Miller and Raven coming their way.
"It's okay, I know him. Clarke, do you remember Nyko?" Her sister frowned for just a mere second before her eyes lit up in recognition and she joined Scarlett's side.
"Nyko." She greeted, which he returned with a nod. "What happened to them?" Her blue eyes scanned the group of people, worry and confusion plastered on her face.
"The sickness. We lost more than forty on the way." He replied rather heavily, emotions showing that not a lot of Grounders showed.
Scarlett wanted to say something but Bellamy stopped her before she could. "Luna?" Bellamy was looking at a fairly young woman, maybe three years older than Scarlett herself. She was quite tall and her skin was tan. Her hair was brown and bushy with blonde highlights at the tips. From what Scarlett could see, she had brown eyes and her brows were very full, something to be jealous of.
"Please don't turn us away because of what I did to you." Luna begged. Scarlett frowned, not sure what she was talking about neither did she know what to think of her.
But before any words could be said, Abby came pushing through the crowd that had formed. "Out of my way. Please let me through." She finally reached the front, joining her daughters at the front.
"Mom, what is it?" Clarke looked at Abby.
"Fever, lesions, vomiting." Abby listed off, looking at the crowd and her daughters, "It's ARS."
Scarlett's eyes widened, knowing very well what that was. She remembered it from the books she'd read back on the Ark and it was not good, not good at all.
But, as Scarlett looked at the others, she noticed that many didn't know what it meant, including Bellamy. "What's ARS?" He questioned.
"Acute radiation sickness." Scarlett answered, realizing that they indeed have much less time than they had originally though they would have. She swore softly.
