"Hebe!"
Hebe looked up, and saw Arron standing in front of her.
"What are you doing here so late at night?" he managed to say, taking in the scene.
Hebe looked around wildly. "Is the stalker.....gone?" she whispered.
"I saw some weirdo trailing a girl, so I followed him. I managed to bop him in the head as he came into the park, so no worries. But....I didn't think that the girl was....you. "
He knelt down in front of her and said gently, "Don't cry, don't cry."
Hebe started crying again, still sitting on the cold ground, as Arron used a tissue to bandage her knee.
"Come on, let's go back to the dorm," Arron said, standing up and holding his hand out for her, but she didn't respond.
"You said you'd be there to protect me!" Hebe wailed, still on the ground, trying to wipe away the tears, but she was angry. "You didn't know how scared I was, you jerk!"
Arron bent down and hugged her, but she buried her face into his shoulder and pounded his back with her fist.
"Hit me all you want," Arron said, still hugging onto her tightly. Funny. He didn't want this hug to end.
Her sobbing died down and she stopped hitting Arron and became silent.
"Can you walk?" he asked her, but she didn't respond, just wiping her eyes with her jacket sleeve.
So Arron picked her up, bridal style, and carried her back to the dorm. They were silent during the whole way.
Back at the dorm, Arron bandaged her knee properly and hugged her again. "I'm sorry," he said.
"Hmph!" was all she said, but she stopped crying and was now silent.
Arron pulled away from her, and got up.
Hebe managed to limp to her room. She changed into her bedclothes and got into bed.
She tried to go to sleep, but her mind kept thinking about Arron.
His smile. His warm hug. His voice.
"Stop thinking about him, stop thinking about him.....Ahhh! I'm still thinking about him!" Hebe wailed, tossing and turning, and finally sat up in a huff.
Finally she decided she could not sleep. Perhaps what had happened had scared her so much that she could not sleep.
But did that explain why she kept thinking about Arron?
She got up and shuffled out of her room and walked over to Arron.
Arron had been sitting at his desk, on his computer. He looked up, startled. "I thought you were asleep!" he said.
"Well, I can't sleep," she said, and sat down on Arron's messy unmade bed, but she didn't care, at least now right now.
Arron got up and sat next to her. "Is it your knee that's bothering you?" he asked.
"No."
Arron looked puzzled. "Is it what happened tonight, then?"
".......No."
"Are you having nightmares?"
"No!"
"Have you fallen in love with me?"
"......What?!"
"Just kidding, just kidding, ow, don't hit me.....so then, what's on your mind then?"
For a moment Hebe looked down at her feet. then she lifted her head up and answered very meekly:
"You."
Arron stared, his mouth wide open.
"What? What did you say? Me?"
"....Yes." Hebe's answer was a mumble.
"Yes!" Arron jumped up and down like a crazy person and pumped his fist into the air. "You really do like me, then!"
"Nuh uh!" Hebe cut in quickly. "No way..."
Arron's happy lit up face fell and he plopped down on his bed again.
"You mean you still hate me?" he asked very quietly, his pouting puppy look on his face.
"Yes....well, no.....well, I don't know!" Hebe said, blushing now.
Arron perked up.
"You're just on my mind, okay?" Hebe said. "I don't know why. Even now, I'm thinking about you!"
Arron smiled wider and wider.
"I'm sure that must mean you love me, right?" he said.
"What? No way!" Hebe said. "I was wishing you were there but you came almost too late. You should have been there when I was scared, you jerk!" She pinched his cheek.
"Oww! Well, let me make it up to you by letting you become my girlfriend," Arron laughed and moved his face closer to hers.
"Are---you serious?!" Hebe leaned back, but he kept coming closer and closer. She scooted all the way to the end of the bed, with Arron scooting after her.
"S-Stop it!" Hebe was frozen, too nervous to get up, because Arron's face was an inch away from hers.
"How about a kiss?" he asked jokingly, and he was just about to kiss her, really kiss her, when she reached up and pinched both his cheeks.
"OWWW!" Arron yelped and moved away.
"Hmph, you pervert!" Hebe fumed and got up. "I thought I could talk to you seriously, but you are really being a jerk here! I still hate you!"
She stormed off into her room and slammed the door.
Arron rubbed his cheek. "Actually, I was serious...." he said to himself.
