The Kiss...The Hug

What a funny scene this was. Arron had Hebe trapped against the wall of the bathroom, both were soaking wet, and Arron had admitted just now something that made Hebe stop struggling.

For a moment there was silence, and Arron waited for her reaction.

Hebe seemed to slide down a little against the wall, and was staring straight ahead.

"Hebe?" Arron asked, wondering if she was shocked or upset. She was silent.

"Earth to Hebe," Arron said, and pinched her cheek a little. He expected her to hit him in return, but she did not move.

"Is there really something wrong, or are you planning to push me into the bathtub?" Arron asked.

Hebe just looked him in the eye, her face confused.

"Are---are you serious?" she asked, her voice small.

"About what?" Arron asked.

"You....like me?"

"Well....I suppose I have been for sometime now. Not friendly like. More of a love like."

Hebe just stared at him, and her mouth opened, but no words came out.

Arron seized the moment and kissed her suddenly, on the lips. Hebe's eyes widened and for a moment she let him kiss her.

Then she seemed to have regained her senses and pushed him away. "Stop it!" she said, as Arron stood there looking at her, longing to kiss her some more.

For a moment they stood there looking at each other.

Finally Arron backed away from Hebe, seeing that she had not much of a reaction. "You can take a shower now," he muttered and left Hebe standing there.

He was feeling very disappointed. She had not said anything, and he had longed for her to kiss him back.

------------------------------

In class, Hebe was sitting there, still in a daze and scared to face Arron.

She could hardly believe it herself that he had really actually kissed her.

Hebe had taken a fast shower, changed, and rushed out of the dorm. Arron had been looking out the window, and tried to say something as Hebe had rushed out of the bathroom, but she had left before he could get a word out.

The bell rang for class, and Arron was not there. Nor did he show up at all for the rest of the afternoon, leaving a stressed out Hebe very worried.

"Hey, what happened to Arron?" Chun asked Hebe, but she just shrugged.

"Hmmmm...skipping class, huh?" Ms. Chen said, looking up from her lecture notes. "I'll be making a note of that!"

"Maybe he fell asleep and forgot to come back," Jiro said, from the back of the classroom where he had woken up from his own nap.

"You mean like you did last week?" Ms. Chen asked.

Jiro didn't answer back.

Hebe, however, was scared that he might have let something happen to him. Maybe he left the school grounds, somehow, and landed himself in trouble. Maybe he got sick. Maybe he was angry at her.

Why though? He's the one who likes me, but I really don't have feelings for him, Hebe thought.

Still, once the school day was over and the bell rang, Hebe rushed out of the room first and ran to her locker, her heart pounding away in fear.

She intended to rush back to the dorm. But then she opened her locker and a pile of notes fell out of her locker.

Some people passing by looked at the notes and whispered to each other, but Hebe was scooping them up, feeling stunned. Who was that desperate that they'd suddenly give her all these love letters? she thought as she scanned some of the notes.

Then it hit her.

"Arron?" she mumbled to herself, and almost dropped the letters again, as she stared into space.

It couldn't be him, could it? Quickly she examined the writing.

It looked like his writing.

It WAS his writing!

"Oh. My. Gosh," Hebe said, and nearly fainted on the spot right then and there.

He must have been the one who gave Hebe the letter that she had brought to the lunchroom. The one he snatched away.

He had said, "Nah, I don't put notes in lockers...once I put trash in Jiro's locker and he bopped me on the head so hard, I fell backwards and rolled down the stairs."

Then he had added,"Just kidding!"

Did this mean he was kidding about not putting letters in peoples' lockers?

So, it had to be him....?

Hebe immediately put her books away, and slammed her locker shut. With the notes still in her hands she ran as fast as she could back to the dorm, pushing past people and crowds.

She fumbled to unlock the door and pushed the door open.

"Arron, were you the one who put these in my locker?" she burst out, but when she looked around, no one was there. The bathroom was empty, and there was no other sign of Arron.

"Arron?" she called, dropping the letters onto his bed.

"Where are you?" she called again, louder this time. There was no answer. He wasn't in her room, he wasn't in the bathroom. Where was he?

Hebe walked back out into the hallway and looked around at passing students, but none of them was Arron.

Where was he? Was he hurt or sick or something?

Hebe ran through the halls once more, and saw Chun and Calvin walking down the hall.

"Chun! Calvin! Have you guys seen Arron? Do you know where he is?" Hebe shouted, running over to them.

"Huh? No." They both shook their heads.

"We thought he was with you," Chun said.

Hebe shook her head. "No," she almost whispered. Now she was really, really scared. What if something had happened to him?

Was she in love with him? No, she couldn't be. He was a real jerk, making her worry like this.

With that, Hebe was now mad. "Okay, thanks," she said to Chun and Calvin and walked away. Stupid Arron, making her worry. He was really being dumb.

Hebe walked all over the school, still looking. When she came to the fountain that she and Arron had been to earlier that day, she saw what looked like Wang Zi and Gui Gui sitting side by side, holding hands, really close to each other. Gui Gui's head was resting on Wang Zi's shoulder.

Hebe briefly smiled, thinking what a cute couple they made. Then she started walking down toward them, but they didn't see her coming.

Then Gui Gui hugged Wang Zi, and he hugged her back.

Hebe stopped in her tracks, watching them hug.

It wasn't Wang Zi that Gui Gui was hugging onto. It was Arron.
