Possibly In Love

The next day, Hebe sat at school, feeling tired and very jumpy. Maybe it was because of a burning guilt inside of her. When she woke up this morning she was thinking how stupid she was to be mad at such a stupid little reason.

When she sat down next to Arron, class had not yet begun that morning. Calvin was continuing his beauty sleep while Chun pigged out under his table where he was sure Ms. Chen couldn't see him, while Jiro was spiking up his hair with hair gel.

"Want some?" Jiro offered, seeing Hebe's look of surprise.

"Uh, no thanks," she said quickly and sat down.

"Hi, Hebe," Arron said, being his happy-go-lucky self as usual.

Oh, Arron, you really are so sweet, how could I think of you as mean? Hebe thought, feeling guilty.

"Hi, Hebe," Arron said again.

Hebe blinked back at him.

"Hi, Hebe," Arron said again.

"Hi, Arron," she answered impatiently. "We just saw each other in the dorm."

Arron grinned and lay his head on the table. "I know," he said, turning his head to face her.

Hebe could feel her face blushing. What was the matter with her? Stop it, she scolded herself silently. This here is a guy who is too good for me. I'm just not in his league.

Arron moved his head closer. "Something wrong?" he asked.

Hebe was still lost in her thoughts. He loves me, but I have to be more cold to him. He doesn't need a plain bookworm girl like me, she thought.

Little did she know that Arron thought the opposite.

Awww, she's so cute I just wanna hug her, Arron thought dreamily, staring at her.

"Arron, you know you're drooling, right?" Ella said as she passed by.

"Quiet, I'm trying to dream here," Arron said.

Hebe looked at him once more, but his gaze was too strong.

"Hebe, wanna go out with me tonight?" Arron asked suddenly.

Hebe froze. "Huh?"

"The two of us together, go out on a date, tonight?" Arron asked hopefully.

"I...uh...." Hebe wasn't sure.

But Arron looked so hopeful, that she just sighed and said softly, "Let me think about it."

"Okie dokie," Aron replied and continued to stare at her.

Hebe pulled out her homework, still lost in her thoughts, then glanced at the clock.

Ms. Chen saw her looking and said,"We have a few minutes before the bell rings."

"Okay, I need to go get a book from my locker," Hebe agreed. She got up and went out the door, Arron turning his head so that his dreamy gaze followed her out the door and out of sight.

"That guy is hopelessly in love," Jiro said as he passed by Arron's table.

"Shut up," Arron said and elbowed Jiro in the stomach.

"Ouch," Jiro said in a bored tone and walked away. He was used to being elbowed in the stomach since Selina had been doing it all the time to him.

-------------------------

When Hebe opened her locker, there was a huge stack of letters in there. More letters from Arron, Hebe thought. He had now signed his name on all of them, and wrote messages such as "You're really pretty" and "Always smile". If she hadn't known it was from him, she would have been creeped out.

Still, these were so sweet, Hebe thought. He's just really nice and sweet and caring and-----

No. WAY.

Ughhh, I sound like I like him or something! Hebe thought. Or am I?

Ahhhhhhhh, Hebe, quit it! You can't be in love him! Who knows, there are tons of pretty girls out there that he could be in love with, all prettier and more fashionable than plain old me, Hebe thought to herself, her heart sinking.

But he's such a sweet guy, and anyhow, how could else could she explain why he was on her mind all the time?

Hebe looked at those letters and moved them gently to the side of her locker, then pulled out the book she needed. She paused in shutting her locker to stare at those letters once more, then shut her locker.

Hebe would have to let him have his way. After all, he was so nice to her and she felt so mean in comparison.

--------------------------

"Two minutes before the bell," Ms. Chen barked at the slowly filling classroom. "Get your textbooks out and ready, and your vocab lists also. You were supposed to define all one hundred words by now."

"Groan," Jiro said, still worrying over his hair.

"You look fine, girlie, I mean, Jiro," Chun said, chuckling. Ms. Chen had used a broomstick to poke him out from underneath his table where he had been eating.

"Aww be quiet," Jiro said, throwing his hair gel bottle at Chun.

Hebe rushed into the room and sat next to Arron once more.

Arron turned to look at her again, and snuggled his head on the table closer to her.

"Is something wrong?" Hebe asked, noticing him staring at her.

"I just like looking at you," he said, causing Hebe to blush once more.

Unknown to Arron, Hebe's heart was pounding away like crazy.

The word love echoed in her mind.

Was it? Could it be?

Hebe took a shuddering sigh and looked down at her hands. She didn't really know what she was feeling. But she knew it was nice.

"Arron," she said very quietly. "I...w-will...."

Arron sat up and leaned forward. "Will what?"

"G-go....out...with you...tonight...." Hebe got all of her words out.

"What?" Arron said, not sure if he believed his ears.

"My answer to you is, yes, I will go out with you tonight on a date," Hebe said again, her face still burning in embarrassment.

"What? You mean it?" Arron said gleefully. He was so happy, that he just grabbed Hebe in one his biggest hugs ever.

Hebe was a little shocked, but nonetheless smiled secretly over his shoulder, where Ella and Selina and Angela were grinning back.

"Awww, that's true love," Jiro said, and puckered his mouth as he said this. "Awwwwww..."

RINNNNNNGGG!

The bell rang. By the time it ended, more students poured into the room and Arron was still hugging Hebe tightly.

Ms. Chen clapped her hands loudly together. "All right, enough of this public display of affection!" she shouted.

Arron still held onto Hebe, lost in bliss while Hebe was embarrassed, still trapped in Arron's arms.

Ms. Chen sighed and pulled Arron off of Hebe.

Arron straightened up and regained his composure.

"Sorry," he said. "For a moment there I kind of lost my senses."

Jiro, Calvin, and Chun snickered.
