"Awwwww, he's so cute," a group of girls were giggling upon seeing Arron as he passed by them in the hallway.
"Arron, man, you're still popular with the girls even thought you're taken," Jiro said, patting his buddy on the back.
"You're taken too," Arron said.
"Yeah but I don't see any more girls going after me," Jiro said smugly.
"You used to love all this attention though," Arron pointed out. "So what happened?"
"Selina happened, that's what," Jiro grumbled. "I only have eyes for her now."
Arron shrugged and turned the corner.
"Arron, your birthday is coming up, what do you want for a present?" Calvin and Chun marched up to him all of a sudden.
Arron stopped in his tracks and stared at them. "What do I want?" he asked.
"Yup. Don't tell me you don't remember that your own birthday is coming up in a few days," Calvin said.
Arron was taken aback. He had really forgotten his birthday was coming up.
"Well, I don't know what I want," he answered slowly. "But really, I got to go to my dorm and start on my mountain of homework, you guys." He started walking away.
His friends followed him. "Going to see Hebe, huh?" Chun asked.
"None of your business," Arron said, waving them off. then he almost crashed into a small group of girls.
"Oh, sorry," he said to the girls, who looked around at him and then let out shrieks and burst into giggles.
Arron made to pass them, but he heard whispers of, "Tell him, tell him" and giggles.
Then a small girl with short curly hair walked up to Arron, blushing furiously and said, "Um, Arron? I know you don't know me, probably...." Here she looked back at her giggly friends and almost started laughing again; she had to cover her mouth to suppress the giggles.
Arron was confused by this, as he didn't know who this girl was or what was happening, and was impatient to pass them.
"Yeah? Am I needed for something?" Arron shifted the textbooks in his arms uneasily.
"W-W-Well, I know you have a girlfriend already..." the girl continued, still blushing red. Her group of friends all giggled even harder, if possible.
"Yes, I'm taken," Arron said. "Sorry."
"But I like you, Arron," the girl said.
Arron stared. He was a little startled, but said anyway, "Um, well, I'm taken, so I can't return your feelings...."
"Come on, I see you with your girlfriend, and it seems like she's never really shown much affection for you," the girl protested.
Arron stared at the girl. He wanted to really brush her aside so he could leave this awkward moment.
"Well, I'm sure she loves me," Arron said. "Now if you'll excuse me..."
The girl scowled and turned her back and walked back to her friends. "So? His girlfriend looks like she's the cold type. Like, she must not like him," one of the girls was saying. They walked away, without giggles or giving Arron another glance.
"Weird," Jiro remarked, coming up behind Arron.
"I know, I have a girlfriend and they're still after me?" Arron was puzzled as he continued walking on. "Why is that?"
"Hmmmm....I think that they think they can still break you two up, because they think that Hebe still hates you or something," Calvin said with a shrug. "I mean, every time you try to kiss her like in the halls or something she always pushes you away."
