Natsu was running through town, his teammates following closely, weaving through the crowds of people.   People backed away slightly, and stared, it wasn't every day that they saw Fairy Tail students running through town in a hurry.  Or at all.   Our protagonists all knew what sort of danger they were in, so Wendy didn't stop to apologize to everyone she accidentally bumped into, and Gray didn't remark that Natsu was acting like a bloodhound.   Erza decided that the best way to keep Gray's clothes on him is to smack him every time he starts to take them off.   Thankfully, it worked, although Juvia made a noise of indignation each time she did.   As they ran, Natsu sped up, as the scent trail was getting stronger and stronger.

The trail leads them straight to the woods on the edge of town, having them weave through trees until it comes to a great, old oak, where it splits in two at its base.   They stop, and Gray is the first to comment.

"Why'd we stop, Flame-brain?!"   He shouts irritably.   Natsu ignores the nick-name and explains semi-calmly.

"The trail splits again here.   How many of her are there?!"   It seems that he's convinced himself that the only logical explanation for her scent splitting, is that there's more than one Ana.

"Whaddaya mean 'how many are there'?!   There's only one Ana you Ash-Brained-Idiot!"

"Whaddya say, Ice Princess?!"

"I said that you're-"

"I know what you said!!"

"Then why'd you ask?!"

"Shut up."   That was all it took to stop their fighting, "It's obvious that one's a red herring, in case we're on the red herring path, which means they're both red herrings.   But, on the off chance that we're on the right path, we need to figure out which one is real because we only have one dragonslayer."

"Oh yeah, if only we had Guildarts, he could split up Natsu and have him go both ways," Gray fantasized, really only thinking about Natsu losing a fight to Guildarts again.

"Yeah!   The Natsu Army!"   Natsu shouted excitedly, slamming his fist into his upright palm before turning towards the town again, "Let's go find Guildarts!"

"No."    Erza said, grabbing the back of Natsu's collar, "We need to discern which path is real, so you're going to point out what each path smells like, and try to remember what Ana smells like."

"Oh, um...   She smells like Strawberries, Vanilla, Iron...   And Diapers!   Yeah, diapers.    Wait, Iron?   Why would she smell like Iron?   I mean, she definitely smells like Iron, but why?"    At this point, he was mumbling, barely even making any sense.

"Ana has made some sort of promise with Gajeel-kun.   They're very close."   Natsu nodded.

"Natsu, the track on the left."   Erza reminded, and he got to work again.

"Let's see, Strawberry, Vanilla, Diapers.   No iron,"   He explained before turning to the next, "Strawberry, Vanilla, Iron...   No diapers."

"Well, Ana hasn't been near Gajeel-kun for a while, but she should still be a baby, or else she'd come find us.   So let's go for the one on the left," Juvia reasoned.

"Good thinking, Juvia,"   Erza commended, giving Juvia a hearty slap on the back, causing her to lurch forward.   So they set off down the trail, following Natsu's nose once again.

The path split many more times after that, but they didn't encounter any other problems on their way.   The path led them to a decrepit castle.   Its walls were crumbling and its arrowslits smashed and broken, ivy climbing its collapsing towers.   The oak doors were rotting, and one was falling off its hinges.

"I suppose we go in," Gray said, taking a few steps forward, Juvia following close after.   Natsu and Erza came next, doing their best to look for booby traps on the way in.   Once in, however...

"Hey!   Where'd ya take 'er?!"   Natsu shouted, causing the castle to shake on its foundation.   Then, all of a sudden, they were falling in pitch black darkness.   The last sound erupting from the mouth of the trap door was Gray's angry yells.

"Why the hell'd you do that?!"

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Natsu and Gray fought as they fell, landing hits blindly in the inky darkness, and trying not hit Erza or Juvia.

"Waaah...    Juvia can't see gorgeous Gray-sama in this horrid darkness..!"    She cried as Natsu and Gray threw insults.   It was if Erza had just disappeared, until finally, a light enveloped them, flickering, and weak, but there.   Erza had gotten tired of the darkness and equipped a lantern.

"There,"   She said, "Now we can see."   Fortunately, they could also see the ground, unfortunately, they were going to become pancakes at this point.

"Oh no..."   Gray murmured.

"Juvia will protect you Gray-sama!   With Juvia's water body!"

"Wouldn't he just go through you?"   Natsu asked.

"No!   Juvia's beautiful Gray-sama will be a Gray-sama pancake!!"   Juvia wailed.

"Gray, can you make an ice slide to get us safely to the bottom?"   Erza asked, and Gray nodded.

"Ice-make; Slide!"    They landed on the slide with a bump, and they sped down it as it appears before them.   The safely made it to the stone floor, which was nearly as cold as Gray's ice.    Due to the rush of wind, the lantern had gone out a while ago, and Natsu lit his palm.   He looked around, there were two possible ways to go, and neither had Ana's scent.   They were most definitely trapped.

"Look what happened 'cause of you, ya idiot,"   Gray slapped Natsu upside the head, causing the latter to lurch a bit, then spin around and punch Gray square in the face.   This resulted in yet another brawl Erza had to stop.

"They're trying to split us up and pick us off, we need to pick which way we'll be going,"   Erza commanded, and Juvia chimed in.

"Juvia is okay with whichever Gray-sama wants to go,"   Juvia swooned, clinging to Gray's arm as he looked very uncomfortable.

"Natsu?   Gray?   Which way?"   Erza asked.

"Left!"

"Right!"   Gray and Natsu shouted the opposites in unison, causing them to fight once more.

"Okay then...   I say we..."   Erza ran up and smashed through the wall straight ahead, revealing a staircase.   They ran up it, and it crumbled behind them as they did.   Just before it totally gave out, they jumped.   Into a prison cell, and the hole in the floor sealed itself shut.   This cell wasn't the kind you usually see with the metal bars, no this one had lasers going across horizontally, and streams of lightning going vertically creating a grid much too small for anything but their hand to go through.

"How'd you know that was there, Erza-san?"   Juvia asked.

"Hm?   Oh, I could hear the whistle of air going through cracks in the bricks."

"Ya mean that high-pitched noise?"   Natsu asked.

"Oh, Juvia remembers that noise."

"Am I the only one that didn't hear it?!"   Gray shouted, hands clutching his head, feeling stupid.

"Juvia, can you slip through the grid and see if you can turn it off?"   Erza asked, and juvia nodded, turning herself into a puddle of water and going under the lasers.   She reformed on the other side and turned to Gray with an adoring smile.

"Juvia will save you, Gray-sama!"   And with that, she ran off down a hallway.

"So, we're just going to wait for her to save us?"   Gray asked.

"Yes,"   Erza replied, joining Natsu on the floor, cross-legged, staring at the wall across from them on the other side of the grid.   Gray sighed and plopped down onto the floor.   This was going to be boring.
