Dim light made its way through the skylight of Castiel's room and he slowly blinked his eyes open. Castiel yawned and turned over, letting the small light of the morning sun warm his face. The sound of birds can be heard from outside along with a rustling of the wind blowing through the leaves of each tree. The air smelled of honeysuckle and morning dew, and Castiel took a moment to just take everything in.
Now this, I can get used to.
He got up from the mattress that lay in the middle of the room with boxes surrounding him. He still hadn't had time to unpack everything and set up his bed, so he just laid the mattress on the floor and slept on that. Later tonight he will have to set up his new room. But for now, he had to get through his first day at school. He sighed and silently prayed to God for the strength to get through his first day at public school.
Oh god.
Public school.
The realization dawned him and he realized he had to figure out what to wear. All throughout Castiel's life he had to wear a school uniform. Everyone wore the same thing, so it was one less thing to worry about. But now he had to choose what to wear on a daily basis. Another reason why Castiel was now dreading to go to school.
Castiel scrimmaged around through box after box. Clothes scattered all around his room, the pieces of clothing he didn't like were thrown over his head.
No
Nope
Not you
Oh god, definitely not.
Too formal.
Not formal enough.
Castiel was getting more anxious by the minute. If he couldn't find a respectable outfit, he would not only be the "Freak Angel With Wings" but the "Freak Angel With Wings and Horrid Fasion Sense."
Castiel paused from ripping out articles of clothing and picked up a white buttoned down shirt and regular black jeans. A light bulb went off in his head.
Maybe if I clashed formal with informal, I won't be as much of a laughing stock?
Castiel pondered the question, but came to the conclusion that he really had no choice. He slipped off his night clothes and pulled on the outfit he picked out. He pulled out his 4 foot tall mirror from one of the moving boxes, and examined himself through the mirror.
He decided not to tuck in his shirt. It was a public school after all, no reason to be too formal, right? Castiel then proceeded to look through his boxes with his shoes in them, groaning in annoyance at the realization he only had a pair of sneakers and black dress shoes. The sneakers were blue and white and did not match his outfit at all, so he settled with the dress shoes.
Castiel made his way into the bathroom to brush his teeth and fix his hair, which did not work with him at all. Despite all the gel and water he put in his hair, it still stuck out in every direction. Castiel sighed in defeat, and continued down the hallway to the nursery.
He opened the door slowly and quietly as to not wake the twins if they were asleep. But sure enough, they weren't. Happy gurgling and cooing noises were being made from the crib in the center of the room. Castiel walked over to the crib, leaned over the bar and smiled down at the two fledglings that were looking up at him. Michael gave a wet gummy smile while Lucifer gnawed on his crimson wing.
"Morning little ones." Castiel proceeded to lift them from the crib and cradled one in each wing. He gently swung his raven colored wings side to side, rocking them a little. Then Castiel turned around and found Gabriel standing at the door way.
