When We Were Kids

Oh when we were kids

We use to play with sticks

We used to believe in magic

Used the sticks as wands

We would talk and switch from subject to subject

And no one would call us rejects

We used to sometimes talk back to our parents

But learned our lessons

Got our mouths washed out with soap

But still believed in hope

We used to wish upon stars

And put cookies and milk out for Santa Claus

We knew that bullying was bad

And animal abuse was sad

We knew our lungs would go bad if we started smoking

And didn't even know the worst about spitting

And when things got worse

We Wished upon stars

To vanish away the scars

Slept with night lights on

And we like the loud sounds of car horns

When we were kids

We believed in the easter bunny

And laughed at things that were too funny

And our favorite holiday was Christmas

We weren't very patient

Grownups told us not do things we shant

Sometimes we even goto to stay up late

We took lightly to hate

We rough housed on the playground

Pretended lava was the ground

Love PB & Js

Counted down days to our birthdays

When we were kids we wanted to be older

But know we know the cold hard truth about getting older

And know we're adults

And we sometimes wish that we were kids
