What We did

Then we finally grew up

We didn't have to ask mom or dad for help

Found true love and had the ceremony

Had kids that begged for money

We held their hands when they took their first steps

Found a family that had to out up with us

Watched our kids board that bus

We watched them grow

And watched concert shows

We were their when they thought they had found true love

When the love had faded and they were sad we helped them pray to up above

We helped them study for tests and quizzes

And took them to school when they missed the busses

Helped them them get back up when they fell

We're their Lassy when they fell down a well

Helped them held their head high walking down  the halls

Helped them throw a football

Scolded them when them and their siblings didn't get along

Helped them grow kind and strong

We still our heads and got gray hairs

Took them to the hospital when they fell down the stairs

Let them roll down the windows and feel the breeze

Helped them breathe through the pain of their scrapped knees

We cried when they walked across that stage

Cried with them when their grandparents died of old age

We helped them as our parents helped us

Made sure they never looked down but instead up
