The Choice

(Shadow's P.O.V.)

    Several days passed since the day she was kidnapped. The damage done to Omega has been repaired since then. The damage done to me, however, has yet to recover. Rouge and I have been working daily trying to find a weak spot on Mischief. We come up empty-handed each time. That is until a scientist approached us with a possible answer. She only recently joined but she said she wanted to do anything she could to help bring (Y/N) back. She's only saying that because she noticed my behavior changed. Her answer was crystal bullets. It sounded far-fetched at first but when she gave some examples to how it worked, it gave me hope I could save (Y/N). I'm currently on my way to her lab for another test run. "Oh, good morning Shadow, you're early." "I'd rather be early than late. The less time I waste is more time I can use to find (Y/N)" "Right, right. Okay, so it's not set up yet so, give me two minutes to set it up." "you have one minute Doctor Luna." The black cat in a lab coat hurries to set up the test course. "Okay, it's ready. Please don't wreck the course too terribly. I can't collect good data if there's nothing left." I nod and the test begins. I have high hopes for Dr. Luna's invention. It's the only hope I have left to save (Y/N). "Umm... Shadow the test ended. Are you done spacing out?" "Huh?" In the time it took me to realize I had spaced out, the targets were all destroyed. "Aw, man. I told you not to make a complete mess of the course. Luckily I was able to collect sound data on the crystal types." "And the best one is?" She shows me a black crystal and places it in my hand. "Use chaos control on it. You'll be surprised with the results." "Chaos Control." The crystal turned multi-colored before returning to black. "What is this?" She smiles, "The answer to your problem. If you use chaos control before you pull the trigger, you'll charge up the crystal. When you told me he turned your girlfriend into a vampire for chaos energy, I put the pieces together. He did that to start the game. He knew about your past and set everything in motion. He knew that you and (Y/N) would eventually meet and he hoped that would be the end. His weakness is chaos energy. That's why he's doing this. And that in the palm of your hand is the answer." She points at the crystal. "That is if you decide to use it. You still have another choice. Become like her. If you became like her you might have an increase in power, making it possible for you to rescue her. But the downside as you mentioned to me before, is your limiters would no longer work." I nod. "There isn't much you can do about that Luna. I appreciate all your help though. I'll keep that in mind." "Just remember you still have a choice. Playing a dangerous game such as this, you need to make careful choices. I'm telling you this for your own good. There's only some much time before the end game. Speaking of, I found this on my desk. I think it was meant for you." She takes the crystal and replaces it with the note. 'Dear Shadow, I've decided to shorten the game. It's lasted a little too long I think. Meet me in the shipyard tomorrow. I eagerly await your choice. See you at the end, Mischief' I guess it's time I made up my mind.
