Alexander paced the floor of his house. What did he say to Jefferson?! Lafayette and Herculez told him he was practically all over him and it look like he was talking his ear off so he prayed to all that was good in the world that he didn't spill about Madison or of his physical attraction towards him, he hoped it was the latter cause he would rather be embarrassed then telling Jefferson he was being deceived by his lover under such a drunken state. He stopped abruptly, he would be late if he didn't get a move on and he promised Laurence, Herculez and Lafayette he wouldn't be late anymore so he got dressed and went to his car with his briefcase.

He walked passed his assistant and told him to not let anyone in his office because he was busy and needed to be by himself, he gave him a odd look and just nodded. Alexander set down his stuff and pulled open his laptop to a document for his new debt plan. As he typed away and went over it a knock sounded at the door and he almost jumped fifty feet in the air due to surprise.

“Come in” he called coolly and his assistant opened the door nervously and stepped inside, he was holding his briefcase and cleared his throat.

“I am going by the café sir, would you like me to get you anything?” Alexander smiles and laughed.

“Yes actually, coffee please. Black” he nodded and set off.

“Alright..back to work” he mumbled to himself and looked back at the screen in a fog. Damn, now that he was interrupted it felt nearly impossible to get back into his flow. He closed his laptop and leaned back into his chair and looked up at the ceiling and for the first time in a while he let his thoughts claim him.

Eliza’s papers came in today and yes he was planning on signing them but everytime he pulled them out of the packet he immediately sealed it back, he promised himself he would sign them tonight and then mail them. Also the wedding ring that was locked in his night stand he was now at the point where he couldn't look at it anymore. Also his new physical attraction to Jefferson, was it right for him to feel such a thing after such a bad break up? He was just starting to grip the divorce..and he was already pinning after someone, no. It wasn't pinning, it was merely just a attraction.

For Jefferson

God, what was his mind coming too?

“Is this what the great Alexander Hamilton does with his time?” a southern scoff came from the doorway and Alexander nearly yelped, speak of the fucking devil.

“Jefferson” he grimaced but it was with less force then it normally was. He sighed and he nearly lost his nerve knowing that what he was talking about last night was embarrassing and discouraging no matter what it was.

“We need to talk Hamilton” Alexander lifted his head to look at the other male and his breath nearly caught in his throat at how the virginian stared at him, it was cold but vulnerable as if a puppy was trying to act like a wolf. His stance was straight and his posture was the word serious in every category and meaning but his eyes shown something else, hurt, sorrow and a speckle of hope. He shook it off and just played it off as a cough.

“Then talk Jefferson, I don't got all day” it was true, he had loads of work to catch up on and he had to reinforce his debt plan to make it foolproof. Jefferson stalked over with a abnormal air and he wordlessly sat in one of the two chairs in front of his desk.

“Last night at the bar you were telling me something and I want to make sure it wasn't shit” Alexander stiffened and prayed to god that he wasn't talking about Madison. “You said James was cheating on me”

Great

Of fucking course

Why couldn't Alexander have nice things?

“Yeah, I want lying” there was no sugar coating it now, Jefferson knew, that was that. Though the taller man looked unreadable and that was driving Alexander crazy, what words could he say if he didn't know what he was talking about?

“Proof” he mumbled “I want proof” the male looked up and Alexander was visibly shaken, how would he give proof?

“Jefferson...I can’t give you that, but I have seen them together and I think you have too” Alexander could tell by the way Jefferson looked away that he was right. Jefferson looked up outraged.

“How long have you known?” Alexander swallowed the nervous lump in his throat.

“A week or so” he gave a nervous grin, why was he grinning at Jefferson? He did not know.

“No” he growled “you should have told me!”

“I’m not sorry!” he snapped back “I didn't know how to tell you! I didn't wanna handle it the wrong way and hurt you more than necessary!” it was true, he didn't wanna hurt Jefferson cause with his experience with Eliza had shown him how much this kinda stuff hurt.

“Wow! What a great job you’ve done!” obvious sarcasm laced his voice like venom and Alexander visibly flinched.

Just then the door opened and Alexander's assistant was standing with Alexander's coffee in his left hand and the obvious look of discomfort on his features. “I-I have your coffee sir, black, just how you wanted it.” Alexander nodded.

“Thank you, just give it to me” he tried to keep the edge from his voice but some of it still made its way through as the man scurried forward and placed the coffee on his desk before nodding his head and murmured a quick ‘good day sir.’ before practically flying out the room and closing the door.

Jefferson cleared his throat and Alexander looked back at him and frowned even more at the hurt in his eyes. “If it means anything Hamilton, I appreciate the worry you had for me.” he didn't see that one coming, though he could see the now slack in his shoulders and the slump in his posture the fight was drained out of Jefferson. He stood and walked to the door and Alexander stood and said abruptly as he walked after him.

“I-I’m sorry” Jefferson stopped and looked back at him.

“What?” it was so quit and it like a gentle wind.

“I...I know it must suck and especially with..everything and how you found out but I--” he was just off by Jefferson turning around.

“Where are you going with this?” he paused, he didn't really know where he was going he was just saying what he felt.

“I want to know that..” he paused and then looked up with a determined and strong blaze in his brown eyes “that you must think everything is shit, especially James and how he treated you, but it's ok! Even though your a asshole you'll find someone better--” Jefferson tom strong steps towards Alexander and he stumbled backwards sense the look in his eyes was nothing less then bitter. He found himself colliding with the wall from behind and Jefferson looming in front of him, he then placed each hand on the wall, caging Alexander in.

“What, do you think you'll be better?” his voice was surprisingly calm and mellow.
