Chapter 5

The Next Morning

"So, do any of you know what we are doing for today?", said Sakura as she looked around the training ground seizing up every detail of it.

"From what I know, I believe we will be taking a test to know if we're fit to be a genin or not. If not, we will be going back to the academy, and since they put us in a team, it also possible that the test is also about teamwork as well.", Naruto responded as he turned toward Sakura with a warm but sleepy expression.

*Thump* *Thump* " Woah, what was that? And, why am I overreacting? It is just Naruto and his usual expression.", thought Sakura as she stared at Naruto with a dazed look.

" Hello? Earth to Sakura.", exclaimed Naruto, snapping Sakura out of her daze. " Oh! I'm... I'm sorry I was just thinking of something.", said Sakura hurriedly, out of embarrassment of being caught staring at Naruto by Naruto himself.

Glancing at the two, Shikamaru, who was peacefully looking at the sky, admiring its beauty not too long ago, sighed thinking that Sakura might or might not have feelings for his younger brother. "Hmph, how troublesome. There goes another..... . ", muttered Shikamaru quietly to himself.

Things then resumed back to how it was with Naruto and Shikamaru looking at the sky and Sakura looking around in training ground until... " Good Morning", said Asuma as he walked into the field slowly with both of his hands in his pocket and an unlit cigarette hanging loosely in his mouth.

"Good morning, sensei.", said the three genins back. "Why aren't you guys calling me Asuma-sensei like you're supposed to do?", asked an amused Asuma, thinking that his students are too shy to call him by his name. "Um... Sense- I mean Asuma-sensei, it just that you didn't really introduce yourself to us yesterday, so we don't really know your name yet.", said Sakura, while the other two behind nodded their head in agreement with what she was saying.

"Wait, I really didn't? Cheh, Asuma, you screwed up big time. What to do? What to do? They're gonna think- Wait... I'm pretty sure that the academy also announces the instructor's name during the team's announcement." " Well, I am pretty sure that you would know my name already from the team's announcement and also I'll tell you everything you need to know about me later.", said a composed Asuma, which contradicts what he's feeling at the moment.

Unaware to the emotion in their sensei, the three scolded themselves, thinking that they should have pay more attention to their surroundings. Poor them.

"Today, we are going to have a test to prove whether you are worthy of becoming a ninja.-" Asuma paused looking at the genins for their reactions. Naruto and Shikamaru's postures and facial expression were normal, meaning that they knew that there will be a test. Sakura's widen up a bit and then turn to give Naruto a small smile, which didn't go unnoticed by Naruto. From her reaction, Asuma could assume that Naruto had told her about the test. Satisfied with their reaction, Asuma continued, "- To pass this test, you are to capture me, the first person to do so will past the test and have a chance to have an apprenticeship with me.".

"But, what about the other two, Asuma-sensei?", asked a concerned Sakura.

"The other two? They'll lose their rights to become a ninja since they are unworthy of becoming one.", said Asuma with a serious expression on his face.
