After a few exhausted groans, Jin opened his eyes with a defined frown. Namjoon took his time in appreciating how he'd never seen Jin in his first moments of waking. Namjoon always found Jin up and ready every time he woke up and just assumed that Jin was an entity that didn't require sleep.
Jin's eyes screwed shut as a rough cough scratched his dry throat. Namjoon awed at the sight of a sick Jin and brought forward a tray of vegetable soup and warm, toasted bread.
"Room service came by just now. I thought you'd appreciate a little breakfast-in-bed." Namjoon combed his fingers through Jin's disheveled morning hair and watched him sigh with relief."I haven't even brushed my teeth yet.." Jin's deep morning voice caught Namjoon off guard and the tray shook with the aftereffect of a strong surge of goosebumps. "You don't have to." Namjoon shushed Jin and watched him quickly sit up, his bubbly personality resurfacing faster than lava from an active volcano. He thanked Namjoon for the food and dug in with satisfied grunts all throughout the short meal, his coughing getting fainter as he went.
"I should've checked the weather forecast before we went to the beach. No wonder it was almost empty. Sorry." Namjoon rested the back of his hand on Jin's forehead, determined to fit a caring nurse's attitude into his mind. His fingers traced their way to Jin's red ear and rubbed it slightly in the false hope that it'd lessen the color, not knowing that the redness came from a heavy feeling of shyness. Jin found himself leaning into Namjoon's delicate hand and closing his eyes, appreciating the luxury of being the patient for once.
"It feels nice.." he said with his eyes closed and Namjoon tilted is head in confusion, as if Jin could see it through his eyelids. "Being cared for." he finished, making Namjoon's heart constrict with ache. When was the last time someone took care of Jin besides himself? He wondered as he cupped Jin's other cheek and held his head gently, admiring the peace in his features. His stomach bubbled with joy as Jin slowly opened his eyes to look back at him and then interrupt the beautiful moment with a cute sneeze.
"Sorry." He sniffled and plopped back onto his fluffy pillow, smiling amid a halo of his black hair.
Click. That damn sound. Seokjin peeked through one eye to see Namjoon hovering over him, the camera holding a barrier between their faces. Still, he could see the contagious wide grin on Namjoon's face as he took one more picture.
"You are addicted." Jin slipped the pillow from under his head and smacked Namjoon with it, making him move the barrier out of the way to steady himself. He laid next to Jin, his leg dangling off the bed and his eyes guiding Jin's to the luminous screen. They both looked at it, Namjoon satisfied and Jin awed out of his mind.
Jin could never understand how Namjoon could make him look so godly. It was like he was seeing himself through a different pair of eyes and it was definitely getting to him. He was gorgeous.
"Wow, I'm handsome." He noted sarcastically and looked at Namjoon besides him. "I couldn't agree more." He laughed at Jin and kissed his nose before quickly getting up and putting his camera out of the way. "Now get up, handsome, we have places to be."Namjoon offered a hand to a comfortable-looking Jin and he accepted it with a defeated sigh, pulling himself out of bed and stretching the life back into his limbs. He rubbed his arms lightly as a shiver electrocuted his body into action and he walked towards the bathroom for a refreshing, warm shower. Namjoon watched him walk away with a smile plastered on his face and pride filling his chest. I'm such a good nurse, he mentally praised himself and walked towards the backpack to add a few more things before they were on their way.
Jin walked out fifteen minutes later, still drying his face with his favorite fluffy hand towel. "Hurry up and get dressed, we're gonna need all the time we can get." Namjoon glanced at his watch and looked back up at Jin who was carefully rubbing the back of his ears to dry them. "How do we know it won't rain again?" He asked, his smooth, soft voice returning to him.
"We don't need to know. There's a restaurant I want to take you to. We can go to one of the museums too, Jeju has many." Namjoon explained, checking the phone again for directions to his favorite restaurant on the entire island. The fact that he hadn't gone there in over a year made him excited for the food he could still savor in his mouth. Namjoon was a sucker for good food and he knew Jin was as well. The difference was that Jin knew how to cook it too.
Namjoon made a mental note to have Jin teach him how to make at least one dish perfectly. With that, he smiled innocently at his companion, who was already groomed and ready. Namjoon picked his bag up and they were on their way to explore the island hand in hand.
