Dinner disaster

Chris's POV

Its been a few weeks since me  and momma moved out of the house. Since she wanted to live in a house I surprised her with a penthouse a few blocks from mine. When I moved in my neighbor Ms.Debbie helped me get used to the house. she told me about the old people that used to live there, she's really cool but tonight, Ms. Debbie and my mother are coming to dinner so I was thinking Marissa could come over so we could maybe she could meet my mother again. 

I felt my phone vibrate under me, I looked at it and saw my mother calling. I smiled and answered the phone. 

"Hey ma" 

"Hey baby" She said. Even though she lives on her own, she always checks up on me. "So is it okay if I make the food for tonight?" 

"Yea ma" 

"And what should I make, I was thinking about making some greens and a potato cassorole, with some ham, will that be enough?"

"Thats more than enough, What about dessert?"

"Your favorite, triple chocolate cake" It felt like she was smiling on the other end which made me smile. "Sounds good" 

"Very good" I laughed and looked at the time. "Aye ma I gotta go" 

"Okay baby love you" 

"You too" I hung up the phone and started walking to my bathroom. Once I got out and got dressed, I heard the door close. 

"Hey babe" Marissa yelled  through the house I jogged downstairs and kissed her cheek. "You ready" I nodded my head and grabbed my keys. We walked outside and got in my car and started driving to the store to get some glass plates cause the only thing i've been eating out of is paper plates. 

Jasmine's POV 

"Aliyah stop" I told liyah, who was having a whole hissy fit. "Please do it for mommy"

"I want my daddy" She whined. Ms. Mina tried to help me but liyah cried harder. "I want my daddy!" I haven't been able to get in touch with chris and everytime I go to his house his brother said he didn't live here no more. 

"Liyah I'll tell you this. If you stop whining i'll let you buy a new dolly from the store" Liyah stopped whining and smiled. "Now let's go, Ms.Mina do you need anything else"

"Naw Jasmine i'm good just spend time with liyah" She said. "I'll be finished with dinner by then" I smiled and walked downstairs to my car. I buckled Liyah in and secured it before getting in myself. I started driving to Walmart and kept driving until I got to a parking space. After a few minutes of walking around gathering stuff for Ms.Mina and myself when I heard a familiar voice. 

"Baby I'm not sure about these beige plates, I like the baby blue ones" I heard Marissa say.  

"But I like the beige ones plus these glasses with the white frosting on the top" I felt liyah let go of my arms and start running. I left my basket and started running after her, sadly that little 3 year old moves to fast. When she got to the next ailse she jumped into chris's arms. 

"Daddy!" She smiled and hugged him so tight. He smiled and hugged her. 

"Hey baby girl" He put her down and looked at me. Marissa rolled her eyes and looked at the cups. He looked at me and waved. I waved back at him and looked at liyah. 

"Liyah why don't we get finished looking for the pencils" I said trying to get liyah's hand.

"Mommy I wanna stay with daddy" Me and Chris looked at each other and looked down. "Please"
