-the next day-

Kathiren opened her eyes to find herself in a strange room, tucked into the bed. As soon as her eyes were adjusted, she jumped up into a sitting position. She looked around, noticing a piece of paper on the bedside table with her name on it. She quickly grabbed it, unfolding it as her heart slowed back down to a relaxed state.

Kathiren, you had a freak out yesterday and passed out. I brought you to your room, your sister is in the room to the left of yours. Your training is at 7am sharp, in Training room 4. Red leader will be there, do not worry that is his job to inspect the Newbies. Your temporary uniform should be in your closet. ~Pat

She sighed, getting out of the bed, and looking at the clock, which read 5:30am. She walked over to the closet, she grabbed the blue uniform with a red waistband. She grabbed a pair of black pants, and an undershirt. She quickly got dressed, after putting on her boots, she looked at the clock again, it was now 6am. She brushed her hair, and brushed her teeth. She looked at herself in the mirror, she looked better than she did in the lab. She quickly walked back out to the bedroom, glancing at the clock again, 6:05am. She opened the door and headed out. Walking through seemingly endless corridors, she finally found the training room. She opened the door and walked in, looking at the clock inside, 6:45am. Great, that gives me time to explore! She thought, looking around with a smile at the empty room.

-15 minutes later-

The rest of the group of newbies arrived, she moved into the group. Following the orders of their guide, who lined them up as the trainer walked in. It was a male, with black hair and green eyes, his face had some scars but nothing too major.

“Alright Cadets! I'm your Commander, I will be testing your skills. You will call me sir, understood?” The Commander asked, all the cadets replied with two words.

“Yes Sir!” He nodded in approval, at their synchronization. Kath noticed the gun at his side, he walked along the line and noticed her.

“Tell me Cadet, when did they start allowing kids in the army?” He asked her, the other cadets started snickering.

“They don't, sir!” She replied, and he bent down to look her in the eyes.

“Then go home, kid.” He stated while standing back up, again another snicker from the others.

“Sir, if I may inform you, that I am no kid.” She replied forcing herself not to react.

“Oh really?” He asked, “What is your proof?”

“My proof sir?” She asked and he nodded, “If you were wounded and in the range of enemy fire, I might be the one risking my life to save yours.” He looked at her sternly, as the doors were opened by the Red Leader.

“Let's just get going with training.” The commander declared, Red leader nodded in agreement.

“Sir you didn't let me finish,” Kathiren said, now all eyes were on her, “What I was trying to say was- That I wouldn't be the one to save you, I'd make sure you were dead. I would save you if you were a brother in arms.” She finished,  and he looked at her stunned.

“And why do you think that Cadet?” He asked and she stepped out of line and turned to face him.

“If you were a brother in arms, you wouldn't treat someone like you did, especially if they might save you sometime in the future.” She said taking a step forward, “Also what ‘Commander’ would carry a gun during training. Let alone, one with the safety off and a bullet in the chamber? So tell me sir, am I still a kid?” He growled, reached for the gun, she pulled something out of her vest and threw it at him. It exploded in his face with a cloud of white, temporarily blinding him. Some of the other Cadets took the chance and tackled him to the ground. She grabbed the gun from its holster and another item from his vest. She opened the chamber and the bullet fell out, as well as turning the safety on before setting it on the floor and kicking it away. She held up the second item, it was a phone. “Word of advice, don't talk on speaker phone about what you're planning.” She smiled and handed the phone to R.L. “I recorded the whole conversation, with a little help from the rooms supply closet. And a recorder I found in the confiscated items.” She said reaching into her pocket and pulling out the recorder, handing it to him as well. There was a small noise of a small piece of metal hitting the ground. Her eyes widened at the noise as she ran forward, and screamed, “EVERYONE GET BACK!” The cadets that heard her ran for it, but there was some that were too slow as the bomb went off. Those who ran for it where just thrown back, but those who were too slow were caught in the blast. She had laid on the ground, and stood up, despite her ears ringing, she ran over to those who were caught in the blast. Tord pulled out his radio, watching as she ran to the supply closet.
