—johnny says he's gonna / buy a bong on canal street / johnny's eyes have never been wider / a strange man by the street corner / points his camera / at johnny and i / we catch him and smile / and stare him down / as he attempts / casual innocence / johnny asks for the time / johnny doesn't wear a watch / he doesn't give himself the time of day / so he gazes down at his phone / that he holds like / a heavy afterthought / catches my eye / and smiles at me / like reluctant hate / and suddenly / i'm sat back in 7th grade / and we're fighting about the difference / between states and provinces / and he used to resemble / a bleach blonde dandelion child/ and i bet he used to kiss his mom/ but not his dad / he only does one of those things still / and some other prick/ boy / feigned asking me out / and johnny laughed / and everything felt off / and now we're here / and johnny's left the basement / of some seedy establishment / without a bong
