School of Equinox

The Four Guilds

Callisto's  POV

I walked to the tall metal rusted gates of the school. I swallowed hard as all the already experienced students walked in. I smoothed my tie and held my books with one hand.  Appearances and skill are a big thing in this school depending on which family you're seeing. My family was based off of skill, wealth, attitude, and well...pure evil. I smirked as the word evil replayed in my head. God Nicolas, you ARE just like your father. I shook my head and looked down at the ground.

Someone placed their hand on my shoulder. "You're new aren't you?"

I turned to see a dark red haired girl. She looked at me with a smile. She was joined by two other people. A male with white hair and yellow eyes. They had specs of something in them. Maybe black? On the other side was another male, this one had dark brown curly hair and red glasses. I couldn't make out what color his eyes were.

I nodded. "Oh yeah.. I'm new" The female smiled. "We are too, we just know a lot about Equinox and his school. She turned to the two boys behind her. "These are my friends, Blanche and Loki, but we call him Lock, and I'm Scarlet. Who are you?"

I studied them and nodded. "Callisto, Nicolas Callisto Phoenix." They all studied me. "You're part of the Phoenix family? The family that lives on the hill with possibly the largest mansion in the 4th Isle?" She asked. The other two behind he exchanged glances smiling. I nodded. "Yeah?" She squealed. "The headmaster is bound to love you, have you met him? He's been saying you're coming and we've all been waiting! So many people are going to notice you tonight when we meet our guild mates and leaders." I coughed. "I've never been here and I'm already popular? Jeez, and, yes I've met the headmaster already, and my guild leader."

She noticed my tie and made a disgusted face. "Oh..you're a Zephyr..." She looked back at me and sighed. The other two behind her also were disgusted. I shrugged. "So what?" She shook her head. "Nothing, lets not let our guilds separate us, we're all going to be good friends. Right?" I shrugged. "Maybe?"

She grabbed me by the arm and led me in the gates.

I hope these three don't mess up my reputation here.

I looked ahead at the giant school. It looked like a castle. It was bigger than my mansion, but of course it would be. It's a school. We stepped inside everyone was talking to one another. People from different Isles were here.

There were 5 Isles. One for each guild, the fifth one was for the school and the hollow forest, all the magical things here.

Recently, 5 people went out to discover an unknown land. The unknown land may be our 6th Isle.

We walked further into the school and we were greeted by the headmaster, Equinox. I looked at him and he smiled. "Nicolas. Glad to see you." I nodded. "It's great to see you too." 

Scarlet pulled me to the gathering room where we were all being placed into our guilds and meeting one another. The new kids stood while the others that were already here bunched together with their guild members. They called us name by name. Blanche was first called of him, scarlet, and I. We were examined by dogs.  Two of them. Both male. They were like German Shepherds, but smaller and one was white and black and the other was black and white. They were the school dogs. They made sure everything was fun and safe. They sniffed out danger. They were fun and playful, but also protective and harsh at serious times. 

Blanche stepped up to the stairs and the dog placed his muzzle in Blanche's hand. The dog looked at Blanche and circled around him. "Phantom." The dog said looking up at him. The Phantom guild leader directed Blanche over to his guild mates. I looked at them. I watched as everyone was being called. Scarlet pulled on my sleeve. "The white and black dog is Jacin, and the other is Ronnie." I nodded and she leaned back waiting and listening. So did I.

"Altair Halos"

For some reason the name snapped me out of a daydream. I watched as a tall dark haired male walked up front. I studied him. Wasn't that the kid who I almost fought getting my supplies. 

Scarlet nudged me. "That's Altair. He's basically the king of Zephyr's beside Sirius. Let me tell you, Altair is basically the only perk of being in that guild." I nodded and coughed choking on my spit. "Wait-, what's that supposed to mean?" 

She leaned away winking. I shook my head recovering from the 'near death incident.'

 "Scarlet." Ronnie immediately shot up wagging his tail. Scarlet giggled and shook his paw and slipped him a little treat. I smiled and looked at them. She must know them two so well, they seem happy to hear her name. Most people were talking softly. When the guild were called they'd cheer. Most of them.

My name was finally called.

"Nicolas Phoenix."

It felt like the whole Isle had stopped moving. Everyone fell silent. You could only hear my footsteps. The dogs were even stunned. Both of them examined me for only about a second and they both confirmed. "Zephyr."

Sirius clapped and grinned. "That's my boy."

He said and pulled me down to where the guild was. Most of them were taller than me. I looked at them and they all looked at me. Sirius grinned. "Alright, so you guys obviously know Nicolas. Tonight in our little house room thing we'll hang and meet each other, sound good?" We all nodded. Sirius told me just about everything I need and I nodded. After guild sorting was over we all took a seat in the big dinner hall and ate. Then our guild leaders took us to our rooms.

I took a seat on the couch. Next to me sat Sirius and another blonde/white haired kid. Altair leaned up against one of the posts in the room and watched me. Sirius looked at them. "Alright guys, introduce yourselves."

It took about an hour before we got halfway done because we were all goofing off.

Altair went last. Everyone watched him. "As you know, I'm Altair. I too like to study the stars and what not, and yes, you're correct.  I am the kid who you tried beating up in the alley, and no. You wouldn't have been able to kick my ass. I'm stronger than you.  I could step on you." I snorted. "You aren't that tall." I stared him down. Our eyes met. He had a cold glare that made me look away. 

He smirked. "Exactly." He turned away and literally fucking disappeared into the darkness. 

I turned to see Sirius right in my face. "You two are literally going to kill each other and it's going to be fun."

Everyone laughed. Equinox tapped on the room door. Sirius opened it and nodded. 

A few minutes later Sirius came back in and cleared his throat fixing himself. "Off to bed now guys, we have a big day tomorrow."

We sorted out where we were sleeping. I shared a room with Altair. I slept at the window and shivered from the draft that came in. I pulled the covers up over my head and fell asleep.
