But I had heard a whimper that had never left my mind. My family was gone for a few hours. I stayed on my terrace but I got a call from Rosalie. "Hey how are you doing?" she asked, and I assumed the others were listening in.

I leaned on the railing, closing my eyes as I answer, "I'm fine

I leaned on the railing, closing my eyes as I answer, "I'm fine." and it was silent for a second, as if she didn't know what to say.

"Well, the wolves just left. We are going hunting, do you want to come?" she offered me and I sigh, but then open my eyes as I heard something, footsteps.

"No. I'm fine. I'll see you guys later." I answer as someone comes into view. I recognized him, though this time he wasn't in wolf form.

"We'll be back in an hour." she informed me, seemingly pitying me as I heard the tone in her voice. I hung up, putting my phone in my pocket. He stopped at the edge of the yard. I went inside, closing the door before walking down to the bottom floor. I open the front door, closing it behind me as I walk carefully and slowly until I was a few yards away.

I cross my arms, feeling nervous but comfortable."Hi." he greets, and I look behind him, expecting him to have brought someone with him.

"You came alone?" I ask before adding, "I mean I didn't expect you to come at all but.. Definitely not alone." I ramble and a small smile lights up onto his face and I feel my heart melt.

"I don't think bringing my pack here would have sent a good message." he answered and I nod, getting what he said, "Plus I figured we should talk. I'm Jacob." he added. So this was the infamous Jacob Black. I can't believe that anything Edward said about him is true now.

"I'm Katherine. Um yeah. I'm sorry for running off. I wasn't expecting to find my...... mate for a few centuries." I told him and he nodded, it was a bit awkward. We were trying to meet in a comfortable ground that we had never experienced before.

"How old are you? I mean i'm just wondering." He added quickly and I smile, and he smiles right after me.

"I'm actually 19, I was turned when I was 17. I've only been a vampire for two years. Hence the whole newborn thing." I explained and he nodded, seeming a bit more relaxed now that he knew.

He gestured to the woods, "Would you like to go on a walk?" he asked and I looked back at the house, before turning back to him and nodding.

"Sure. I'd love to." I answer and another smile lights up his face. See the nice thing about imprinting or finding your mate is, it might be awkward but you feel that instant connection, something you feel with no one else. I feel comfortable around him, like i'd fight off the entire army if it meant keeping him safe.

We begin to walk side by side and there was a comfortable silence for a few minutes before he asked. "Are you going to be in the fight?" he asked and I look up from the ground, to him.
