My Silly Mistake

Part One

"Joan!!" I scream, quickly making my way down the stairs. I am in so much hurry. There's a mall that just opened yesterday and my best friend and I decided to go check it out.

I shake my head, trying to get over the sleep tugging at my eyes. I didn't get enough sleep and it's making my eyes ache.
I shrug, I'm going to get involved in so many activities at the mall, the sleep would probably dissipate.

My sister shows up from the corner leading to kitchen and folds her arms. I roll my eyes.

"What?" She snaps.

I sigh. My sister can be something else. I always try my best to make her happy, but she never appreciates my effort.

I started looking after her at the age of sixteen after our parents' unannounced departure.
Yes, they abandoned us.

The thought of us losing both parents is what has made her sour and mean.
I place both hands on her shoulders but she shrugs them off.

I huff. " I'm off to the new mall "

She just stares blankly at me and turns to leave.

"Don't forget t-"

" I know that! " she interjects , storming into the kitchen. I shake my head and turn to leave.

I make my way to the bus station and board a bus. As I take my seat, the bus starts to move. The cold wind kisses my skin and my eyes begin yo feel heavy. Gosh! I really wish I had taken a nap.

Don't sleep, don't sleep, I softly mutter to myself, but it's hard not to,especially when the breeze is so tempting...

I look out the window trying to get myself busy by counting the trees.

One, two, three....
I'm trying hard not to sleep.
I huff, giving up. I pick my phone to set an alarm to wake me up after five minutes.

...just five minutes...

I still have a long way to get to the mall by the way. I send a quick text to Betty informing her that I'm already in a bus and on my way there.

I rest my head on the wall of the bus and sleep speedily envelopes me.

A sudden thump on my head jerks me up.
Oh God for how long was I asleep?!

I sit up and look around. The bus had come to a stop. I look out the window and shudder.

Oh no no no no!!

I get off the bus and run across the street. There is no one in sight. Not even the bus driver. I take a look around the environment.

There are so many old buildings and tall trees. I have never been to this part of the city. It looks like a ghost town!.

I shiver. This place already gives me the creeps and I can't stand a second here. I suddenly remember I have a phone and take it out.
I better call Joan and tell her I'm missing.

I turn on my phone and gasp. There's no connection here. My heart starts to ache. Where am I? And how am I going back?!

Silence envelopes the environment and a shiver runs up my spine as an owl hoots from a distance.

Oh Lord! How am I getting out of here?

I stand by the side of the streets, looking left and right in hope of seeing a car.

None.

I decide to walk about having hope that i might meet someone.

How come the driver brought me here?
There are no other buses using this road. I cross over to the other side of the street. This place looks so deserted. Falling buildings, old paint,rusted vehicles......this place looks so old.

I walk behind an old building... Looks like it was once a hotel or something. I spot a bench under a tree and make my way towards it and take a seat. I look ahead of me and hug myself.

How the hell did I get into this mess?!
