My Silly Mistake

Part Twenty-eight.

***Emma***

I wait outside with Joan as the driver packs our bags into the car. Yes, we are going back home... to start our lives all over again. It feels weird going back after everything. I'm sure by now my friends will be very worried since I couldn't contact  them for a very long time.

Zander has been ignoring me ever since I had yelled at him. He was back to giving me sharp looks and glares along with blank expressions. He's angry and I know it. I was even quite shocked when he asked about me the other day. I thought he was still angry at my unprepared confession... Can I call it that way?.

Aunt Clara smiles at me along with her husband Hunter. For the first time yesterday, we spoke and I really enjoy his company, he's a very nice guy.

The two brothers step out of the house, Austin smiles walking up to us as Zander just moves to the driver's seat. "Are you ready?" He asks and I nod. I hug aunt Clara and Hunter as well bidding them good bye as we leave to the airport.

I don't think I'd ever come to NYC again. There are too many memories here...I sigh.

I hope everything turns out good.

***Austin's POV***

It's been two days since she left to start her life all over again and I'd be a  liar if I say I don't miss her. She was the best company, I know it hurt my best friend that she was gone but he'd never admit.

The office door opens and Zander waltzes in with stacks of folders in his hands. He drops them on the desk and takes his coat off, going through them. He curses loudly rubbing his head.

"Damn it!" He sighs in frustration. "I forgot it!"

I laugh and walk up to him. "Bro, you've been forgetting things lately.." I chuckle.

He scowls at me. "I know. It happens everyday" he waves me off moving to take a seat.

"No, it doesn't happen everyday. Zander Blackwood doesn't easily forget things.." I tell him.

He says nothing and just taps away on his phone. I sigh and look out the window in deep thought.

"What are you thinking about. I thought everything was fine now" his voice cute through my thoughts.

"I miss her" I look at him.

He furrows his eyebrows,confused. "Who?"

Is he serious?

I give him a pointed look. "Don't play dumb with me, you know who!"

He rolls his eyes. "She was meant to leave Austin. She's safe now, no need to worry.."

"I know for me, but what about you?" I ask him.

He freezes and looks up at me not uttering a word. His eyes grow darker. I mentally smirk...it's working. Zander has been smitten... The lion has been tamed...

"I hope she meets someone that gives her the love she needs" I say observing his expression.

"That's not possible.." He mutters.

I smirk. "What was that?"

He shakes his head. "Stop getting in my head Austin!." He yells and storms off.

I laugh when he gets out. It worked, I'm sure he's going to her workplace, it's not far from here, it's one of his companies.

I relax on the chair.
