Ch. 14

"T-tessa? You're okay!" jack called out slowly inching closer to tessa. Tessa tilted her head and giggled and swayed side to side. Riddick furrowed his eyebrows and put a hand out to halt jack. She looked up at him with a questioning look.

"How did you survive?" fry asked while holding ali back. Tessa smiled a wide smile and threw her arms out.

"I'm back to being myself!~ so anyone not ready for this shit? If so then stay here~" tessa turned and grabbed a large bone from one of the piles beside her and placed it on her shoulder and hummed while walking back out of the light. Riddick put his arm down and placed the rope from the sled into imams hands, he motioned with his head to follow tessa. They continued walking after her while also noticing more bodies as they continued to go farther and farther into the canyon.

Tessa noticed fallen bones blocking the path, she put down the big bone she carried and started to move the bones blocking the path to make it easier on them all. Squatting, getting ready to lift, her thigh nearly gave out. She grunted then quieted herself. The pain was slowly coming back to her leg. Looking back she noticed the light from the group was a little farther back than she thought. She was still moving fast which pleased her greatly. Shaking her head she lifted the piece of bone and threw it away. Hearing noise behind her she grabbed her big bone and swung at the beast behind her, knocking it's head to the side. Laughing at it's painful screech, she hit it more and more till blood started to leak out of it's skull. Soon the group caught up and noticed the body at her feet and gulped. Jack was still looking at tessa with awe in her eyes. Tessa shrugged and crawled through the opening and decided to wait on the other side. Jack crawled through followed by ali, riddick, shazza, and zeke. Suleiman was just about to go through but in a flash the arm of the monster that tessa thought she killed shot out and grabbed suleiman by the ankle and tore through the skin, imam rushed to help him as suleiman dropped his liquid torch and caused it to let go. They both crawled through, zeke pulled the boy to safety on the other side. Riddick didn't stop as all of this was happening. Jack started to follow him when a beast swooped down and went for jack, shazza saw this and made a decision.

"JACK WATCH OUT!!" shazza knocked her out of the way as the monster descended, it happened fast. Shazza's screams sounded throughout the canyon along with jacks. Shazza was under the beast as it started to tear her apart, tessa growled and jumped onto it's back and started to beat it over the head, soon she huffed and threw the bone away and brought out her wrist knives and dug them deep into it's shallow skull. Shazza's screams have died away when the beast finally fell to the side, jack rushed to shazzas side and sobbed. Zeke held her hand in shock.

"Why would you do that for me?!" jack screamed while holding shazzas head in her lap.

Shazza smiled and closed her eyes and went still.

"Let's move." riddick rumbled, zeke sat there in pain looking at his wife as everyone stumbled passed him and jack. Tessa moved to jack and pulled her up by her arms and lightly pushed her towards the others.

Tessa turned to zeke who was staring at nothing.

"Need to move zeke. She's gone." tessa turned and walked away. After a few steps she heard zeke walking behind her. Tessa knew this was only the beginning of the end. Oh how she would enjoy it.  Tessa climbed to the top of some bones and looked around at what was to come. there was still a good mile ahead of them. she could just barely see the camp lights from where she was.

"how close are we?" fry asked.

"not close enough." tessa answered. suddenly it started to lightly rain getting heavier each second.

" wow, and i thought it was dangerous now-" whimpers cut tessa off as they sat suleiman down along the wall. tessa frowned as they got to work bandaging his ankle up. tessa hopped down from the bones and shot forward scaring fry who was trying to talk to riddick. with her wrist knife out she swung just above his head and cut the tail off a monster that was trying to get a snack. imam yelled and pulled suleiman away from the withering tail and more into his arms.

"careful, dont lose your head." tessa laughed as she picked up the tail and threw it to fry who jumped away from it with a yelp. riddick came back from wherever he went, the man is stealthy as hell, "we wont make it!" he yelled over the sound of the pouring rain. he pointed towards a hole in the wall and ushered everyone in, tessa stared at him as he tried to push her in.

"you will leave everyone here..." she whispered to him and glared. "seems like the stories are real.." she said and walked into the hole and sat down beside jack and ali. riddick pushed the rock in front of the hole so the creatures couldn't get in. jack sniffled and looked at fry.

"he's coming back right?"

"of course he is-" tessa snorted and fry glared at her, "he is coming back, he just needs to get the batteries to the ship then he will come back for us." they all looked towards the rock when they heard the screeches and the rock moved a little. 

'will he really come back?' they all thought as the light from the last liquid torch slowly went out.
