The next day

The birthday is laterally three frocking days away! Aaaaaaahhhhhhh!!!

What's worse? The fact that they're being lied to by their mom and aunt about their dad being in Ukraine on an emergency business trip abs he might not be back until WHO KNOWS WHEN (never!)

If I were them and my mom and aunt finally revealed the truth to me, I'd be ticked and really sad and feel suicidal (mostly about the fact that my dad's fucking...umm...you know, dead!)

I woke up Naomi really early and reminded her and she was like;

"AHHHHHHHH-"

But then I covered my mouth and was like "shhh!" So she shut up. Then we got a party planner book and started planning.

First of all, we needed a location. We couldn't just have the birthday in our house (which might become a crime scene after Naomi murders the Chef that murdered her husband/my brother).

So I went online while Naomi went to the basement to find some birthday decorations.

I found three decent places I could have a decent party for decent eight year olds and their class mates (which, in fact, were many).

A nice looking country club, an old duplex that some crazy looking grandmother is putting up for sale and an arcade which had an underground party venue (which was quite decent).

The other places were too...off. I printed out pictures of the three venues and went to meet Naomi in the basement. She had pulled out two boxes of Christmas lights, two boxes of  HAPPY BIRTHDAY banners and a box of HAPPY BIRTHDAY candles.

That was practically all the birthday decorations we had. Except the fact that the Christmas lights were improvisation products. They weren't created for birthdays.

We went to the shop (which thankfully was open at such a dreadful hour) and bought two candles that were in a shape of eight, gift wrap, a remote controlled helicopter and a human sized doll house (two things Larisa and Thomas had been dying to have), two packs of red velvet cake mix (their favorite cake mix) and other stuff we figured we would need.

We got home at 10 am, yawning and still sleepy. We didn't unload the boot but went inside and had a bath, brushed our teeth (no wonder the sales woman kept stepping back when either me or Naomi was talking to her) and dressed up.

When the kids had gone into their room, we rushed the stuff upstairs and kept them in Naomi's room (where Theo wouldn't snoop around and find it) and then we went back downstairs.

Theo was watching a football match as me and Naomi quickly made a breakfast of brownies and strawberries. The kids ran downstairs at the sound of my voice shouting out "BREAKFAST'S READY!"

They took their seat at the table. And dug in. Me and Naomi finished quickly.

When we were done, we cleared our plates for a maid to put in the dishwasher and then we headed back upstairs to continue planning.

We decided to figure out a venue after we get invitations so Naomi went out to a printer shop to design and print out about 200 invitations.

When she left I locked up her cupboard and walked into my room and decided while she was gone, maybe I should figure a venue out so we know of we need any more supplies.
