the next day, i gather the courage to talk to him.

"hi, jae."

"hey."

"what did you want to ask?"

"ask?"

"yeah," i say, "you know, about your crush."

"oh."

i see as his cheeks turn slightly pink as he thinks for a second. is that what i look like when i think of him?

"how should i ask her out?" he asks, after a moment of silence.

"what does she like, do you know? like, does she like romantic things, simple things, or..."

"i think she's more on the simple side."

"then...i think a simple confession will do. maybe a rose or some sort of small gift to go along with it. all you really have to do is just tell her."

"i'm...writing her a song. is that too much?"

"i don't think so. just don't go overboard with it and i'm sure you'll be fine. and if that girl rejects you, she clearly doesn't deserve someone as great as you."
