[ sometimes we are tested, not to show our weaknesses but to discover our strengths]

Montegro

I can't fucking believe this.

I got caught.

I never get caught.

I was betrayed.

I will find that mother fucker and personally put a bullet through their head.

I'm standing here in the usual orange uniform for a maximum prisoner. The officer said 'i was getting surprise'

I scoffed and shot him a hateful glare. He stepped back so quickly.

Yeah. That's right. Feel my fucking power.

I stepped into the cubicle room that they had to interrogate us. I laid lazily back in the chair and the steel cuffs and chains chimed to my movement. They aren't enough to hold me down. A humdrum old man in a gray suit sat there, on the opposite side on the table. Two officers were stationed on either side of him. I looked at him and gave him a glare. He cleared his throat and loosened his tie. Uncomfortable I see.

" Mundo, look where you were and look where you are now" his voice placid , his words hit a nerve but I reverted my calmness to him

"not for long" I smiled sinisterly.

"right you are!" He faked every ounce of jolly in his voice. Fucking sarcastic old man. "because life loves you and has decided to give you a second chance"

"don't fucking mess with me old man, what are you talking about?" I gritted out.

"you see the government being the humanitarians they are, decided you have rights too" the venom in his words becoming evident. "you have to live with a citizen for a year and a half" he huffed.

I looked at him incredulously. Well then, this was a certain turn of events.

"what about Javier?" I asked.

"it's the same with him"

"are we lab rats or something?" I asked ,getting pissed off-more than I already was.

"no. You're just the worst of the worst"

I smirked when he said that. Everyone knew me. I was the nightmare which mothers sheltered their children from. Javier and I were the most feared gang leaders and drug lords you'd ever meet. Except... well , we don't do well with people. Javier and I were the same age, while he liked the wild side I remained passive. Girls, cars, money, houses all those things mattered to Javier but not to me. My sole purpose was to provide for my family. My mother and my sister. The only two people ,other than Javier, that i cared about. But my reputation portrayed me as one of the Lords of lawlessness. The other, that would be my very cunning cousin, who else? Javier. It was a nice title. A catchy jingle to it. No one dared mess with me. I was 'all evil.' People said my soul was black. I was dangerous and lethal like a prowling leopard. You never know when I'm about to strike.

"who is this citizen?" I asked

"we have yet to find one but we are getting recommendations from the police service on potential candidates" he said, getting up to leave "no harm must come to that person who is 'taking care' of you"

Yeah. Fuck that shit. And then he left. I was escorted back to my cell. I was the only one in it, I was deemed too dangerous for anyone else. Funny. The silence consumed me as I laid back on the bed, a thought just roaming through my mind, just wondering who this 'citizen' is.
