I was trapped in this place Alex called heaven, it had everything for women, from toothbrushes to lingerie. My mind itched to imagine Alex in nothing but a flimsy piece of silk or lace covering inches, just inches, of her body. I looked at her from a distance, she picked two lipsticks and came up to me. She tucked her brown strands behind her ear. She always had that habit.

"Montegro, I can't decide ... Which one should I buy? The fire truck red or the nude coffee? "The fire truck red was an enticing color. I imagined it on her lips. It was definitely my choice.

"Fire truck red. It would look good on you." i said smiling down at her. She gave it some thought and placed the nude colored lipstick back on the shelf.

"I guess I'll be taking your suggestion." She smiled. I guess you will. She walked up to the cashier where she had the woman what is that? Is that a membership card?

"Miss Kane, how are you?" the woman asked. Alex smiled at her

"I'm fine thank you" she said as the woman placed everything in a bag.

"And who's this? The tall, dark and handsome man you said would -how did you put it?" she paused as she asked her co-worker, then they both smiled and said " oh yes, who would whisk you off your feet?" They both laughed as Alex down her face in embarrassment. I can be ... if you want me to... I sighed as I thought those words. How was I supposed to explain to her that I feel something for her? How was I supposed to tell her you know I think I like you? She wouldn't accept me. ..I'm a cold hearted criminal and she's the daughter of one of the most favored commissioners ever to head the police service! My heart pinched when I thought about it. I sighed. I wish she knew....

"This is Montegro, Montegro these two are Arrie and Joanna." They smiled politely to me and her eyes trailed themselves to me. Those thick long eyelashes shrouded her gaze. Our eyes connected and it was hard to turn away, it was only the clearing of throats behind us that broke the stare. We completely forgot there were other customers at the back of us. I looked beyond Alex's body and saw most of the women having smug smiles on their faces. i gave them a small smile and grabbed Alex's hand and walked out of the store.

"Is there something wrong Montegro?" she asked me, looking around. I scratched my head and stuttered.

"Uh no but...could you not carry me to that store again...it makes me uncomfortable." I visibly shuddered and Alex bubbled with laughter.

"Are you serious? You're afraid of a women's store?" One of her dark brows arched sending me a questionable look.

"Pshh, no I'm not! It just makes me uncomfortable..." I tried to defend myself. She rolled her eyes and shook her head.

"C'mon lets go get something to eat before you die of exposure to lingerie and lipsticks." She grinned and pulled me to the dining buffet. We ordered and sat down and ate. Something in me told me to look back and there was a guy sitting furthest from us. The cap on his head shadowing most of his face but I knew his eyes were trained on us. In a reflex action, I grabbed Alex's wrist and tugged her attention to me. Our eyes connected and I motioned them to where he sat. She nodded and we got up and left. We paced through the mall and into the car park.

"Give me the keys Alex." I said. She heard the urgency in my voice and fished the keys out of her pockets and gave them to me. I started her car and sped out of the mall's car park. Something like thrill and almost excitement washed over her eyes but they showed more fear than anything else. I didn't care whether that guy was a cop or a Montes gang member or just someone who looked really suspicious. There's nothing on the face of the earth that would come to harm Alex, not while I was still breathing. This kind of emotion scared me, I was ready to lay my life down for her.
