(Y/N) POV
My handmaid helped me undress from my satin attire into my silk evening wear. I was grateful for her, besides Padme, she is the only one I trust.
"Thank you, Shaki," I mumbled my thanks, gently touching her arm. "Please don't thank me, milady," she smiled in return before exiting the room. "Do sleep well, my dear," she hummed from the door. I stood by my bedroom window and smile at her in the reflection, softly looking over my shoulder at her. "Goodnight," I spoke, and she left.
I stared back out of the window. Looking upon the republic lights that shined higher than anything I'd ever imagined. I remembered the evening events and sighed to myself sitting in the windowsill gazing at the buildings. I wonder why Obi didn't say anything, I thought to myself. The humming of speeders passing the window started to make me drift off into slumber. My head was propped up against it, everything in the room became deafening silent.
Obi-Wan's POV
I paced back and forth across the long hall that connected the two rooms most dear to this assignment. (Y/N) and Padme.
"I don't like the sense in here," I spoke, my finger on my chin listening closely to what was going on in the rooms. "Master, they are alright. I can sense everything going on in that room," Anakin spoke to me, walking with his hands behind his back. "I'm sorry, but do tell why everything is most certainly okay with those-" "They covered the cameras. I don't think they like the idea of us watching them." Anakin cut me off.
I watched as he turned around, stopping in my tracks to put my hands on my waist. "What is she thinking," I mumbled to myself, speaking of both girls. "The Senator programmed R2 to warn us if there's an intruder." I shook my head, again placing my finger to my chin. "It's not an intruder I am worried about. There are many other ways to kill a Senator." I spoke, gradually getting quiet towards the end of my sentence. "You're using her as bait?" I questioned Anakin loudly. "It was her idea... Don't worry, no harm will come to her. I can sense everything going on in that room, Master, trust me," he quickly tried to reassure me. "It's too risky, Anakin," I argued holding my ground. He was quiet for some time before turning around to walk again. I shook the thought out of my head and paced in the opposite direction, towards (Y/N)'s room. Her breathing was steady, which made me calmer.
"Obi! Obi!" The little girl yelled. She chased him around the garden making ship sounds, speeding and weaving her way around any little crack. The boy laughed when he fell to the ground, quickly catch the little girl that followed him. She laughed and kicked her legs. "That's not fair!" She giggled, wiggling in his grip. "I win fair and square! I caught you!" He laughed helping her stand up. She hugged him tightly around the waist, "It's okay, I'll forgive you," she spoke. "For?" He asked. "Pretending to win," she laughed jumping up to kiss his cheek before running off. "Ha! Ha! Come get me, Obi!" She sang.
My mind quickly came back to me when I looked to see where my Padawan had gone to. He stood looking over the city from the hallway window. "You look tired," I spoke. "I don't sleep well, anymore," He replied. "Because of your mother?" I asked calmly. "I don't know why I keep dreaming about her now. I haven't seen her since I was little." "Dreams pass in time-" "I'd rather be dreaming of Padme. Just being around her is... intoxicating," Anakin spoke with a hint of lust in his voice. I shook my head and gently laid a hand on his shoulder. "She's not like other Senators, Master."
I opened my mouth to speak, but the young one but my voice off. "Please, not another lecture, Master. Not on the economics of politics, it's too early in the morning-" He jolted looking in the direction of Padme's room. "I sense it too," I spoke quickly. we both sprinted to the bedroom, Anakin instantly igniting his lightsaber. I hear the blade cutting into something while I checked on the Senator. To my right, I see a droid of some sort leaving the window. I ran towards it jumping out of the window, catching it ever so close to almost missing it. This was going to be a bumpy ride.
(Y/N) POV
I woke to the sound of glass being broke. I jumped from the windowsill and ran down the hall to see what had happened. I saw Padme sitting up on her bed staring at everything around her as if she had just been shot. I quickly sat beside her, pushing the hair out of her face, trying to calm her down. "You alright, milady?" I ask in a hushed voice, now rubbing her shoulders. She shook violently, shaking her head as she leaned into me for support. I hushed her, staring up at the young man in the room. "She will be alright, Annie," I spoke to him. He gave me a strange look for calling him by that name. "Go on, I promise," I spoke and he nodded. Anakin gently touched the back of her head. "I'll be back as soon as I can," he said in a strict voice, which I listened sternly to. He left the room and there I sat, holding the Senator in my arms for dear life.
