Chapter Eight

Ano bang dapat niyang reaction sa sinabi ni Anton? A lot of things rumbling in her mind and her emotions went overdrive.

ANTON LIKES HER!

Tama ba talaga ang narinig niya o baka nagkamali lang siya ng pagkadinig. Naglinis naman siya ng tainga kanina.

"Sa lahat ng kalokohan mo ito ang pinakamatindi." She said in a light mood. Pinilit niyang maging kaswal. Siya ang talo pag naniwala siya.

"Do you find it unbelievable that I like you?" He asked in a serious tone.
"Because it's really impossible!" She answered.

"Why would you think it's impossible for someone to like you?" He countered while still looking her.

"Kung sa ibang tao baka maniwala pa ako, Anton. But not with you!" She stressed the last part of her answer.
"Why?" He asked again. Nakakunot na ang noo nito.

"And why do you like me?" Tanong niya rin imbes na sagutin ang tanong nito.

"Bakit kita nagustuhan?" He parroted her question? At bumaba ito sa pagkaka-upo sa ledge ng concrete wall. "Hindi mo ba talaga kayang tanggapin o paniwalaan na magkakagusto ako sayo?" Pagbabalik tanong na naman nito.

Pakiramdam niya tanong lang sila ng tanong at wala man lang nasagot sa binabato nilang tanong sa isa't-isa.
She refused to answer herself either. She looked away from him and gazed at the fading light of sunset. Bigla siyang nakaramdam ng kalungkutan at hindi niya ma-explain ang bigat na nararamdaman niya sa damdamin. She sighed inwardly. She really felt suffocated by the sudden turn of her emotions from excitement to frustrations...and then the sudden ache surrounding her heart.

Sa pangalawang pagkakataon may nagpakita na naman ng interest sa kanya. If she thought Dumbledore was not the right one for her mas lalo na si Anton.

THEY ARE TWO WORLDS APART.

Langit si Anton at siya ay lupa. They would never meet even halfway.
'And here I go again, Lord...' Parang baliw na kausap niya sa sarili ng tahimik. Ayon naman ang pakiramdam niyang nanliliit siya. A lot of IFs and BUTs crossed her mind. Insecurities were blinding her senses suddenly. Naiisip pa lang niya kung ano lang ang meron siya ay pakiramdam niya she would never be good to anybody... not to Anton.

"It's so hard for me to believe na gusto mo ako at hindi pa nga tayo magkakakilala ng masyado. I guess if my memory serves me right almost two months pa lang based on our first encounter sa prayer house. Ni hindi ko nga alam apelyido mo." She said and tried to make a joke out of it.

"How would you know a thing or two about me when all you do is run and hide? Para akong may ketong na iniiwasan mo." He said. And she knew that was more of an outburst. Alam niyang nagkikita ito minsan kasama ang ibang barkada niya at hindi siya sumasama lalo na pag-alam niyang sasama ito.

"Do you have a poor eyesight, Anton?" She asked out of nowhere. Wala kasi siyang maisip isagot sa huling sinabi nito.

"No. My eye vision is okay. And my name is Antonio Luis de Assi. Now you know my last name." Sagot naman nito at kitang-kita niyang naguguluhan ito bakit napunta sa paningin nito ang usapan.

At that moment she wanted to laugh pero hindi niya magawa. "Tomorrow, Signor Antonio Luis de Assi, you should start seeing an opthalmologist. You're having poor eyesight already." She said again and this time she truly smiled seeing his bothered expression despite of the turmoiled emotions she felt within her.

"What are you talking about? There's nothing wrong with my eyesight." Anton replied with the confusion in his eyes.

"You are blind, Anton. Paano ka magkakagusto sa isang tulad ko? I'm looking at the mirror everyday and it doesn't lie to me. Hindi ako maganda, Anton. Hindi rin ako sexy dahil pinaglihi ako ng nanay ko sa balyena. Mahirap lang din ako Anton. Hindi rin ako ganoon ka sociable. I have a tendency to be a nagger. I'm snoring like a horse when I sleep. I'm moody most of the times. To sum it up, I'm not that likable." She told him. Parang nanghina siyang bigla at naupo sa pinakamalapit concrete bench. Napapagod siya sa kaka-formulate ng sasabihin sa lalaki.
