"Carolyn?"
"Hey Stephanie. How did you know where I live?"
"I, am actually, your neighbour,"
She brightened up at that.
"That's great! We can go to NUS and hangout together, like best friends!" She exclaimed, while hugging me.

She is one hard hugger.
"Umm, so does that mean we're friends?" I managed croak from her embrace.

She let me go as soon as I said that.

"Oh god I'm so sorry it's just I never had a friend before so I thought that maybe..but never mind"she waved it off "so what brings you here?" She tried to lighten up the situation, but I could see sheer disappointment and embarrassment in her eyes.
How could such a bright and bubbly girl like her could be so lonely? She is pretty, smart and friendly, basically everything that I'm not. Then how can two people who are poles apart be on the same boat?

"Hello? Earth to Stephanie? Are you there?"
"Huh? Oh sorry," I snapped out of my thoughts.
"You zoned out there. All okay?"
"Yeah. It's just, we've had a massive miscommunication right there. What I actually meant was, I thought you wouldn't like to be my friend, with me being so grumpy and all at the campus," I salvaged.

Carolyn seemed surprised and relieved.
"Oh thank god. So, you wanna make this friendship official?" She held her hand out, a wide grin making its way on her face.
"I think we can do better than that," I opened my arms.

Sister figure.
I could feel her becoming an important part of my life already.

"So you wanna eat together tonight?" I asked.
"Sure, We can go to KFC or something"

Oh haha lol no way in hell I'm going to that danger hotspot again

"Or maybe we could hangout at my place and have sleepover," I suggested.

"That's great! When should I come over?"
"Umm..I don't know. How about now?"

Little did I know, it was a start of a great friendship. Little did I know, Carolyn would soon become my handle to hold on to among the twists my life was to take.

We crashed at my place and discussed, well, girl stuff before entering the kitchen. We made some fried rice and fried chicken and watched Mean Girls. Soon after that, I decided to go take a bath, and think about what all happened today..

Andrew.
Do I like him?
And most importantly, Why do I like him?

"Love isn't something you have control over. You can't decide whom you fall in love with. You just...do,"

Mark. That's what he said. But why am I giving so much importance to a guy who I've met only four times?

Because he's been there for you when you needed somebody most, said my heart.

Don't worry about him he's just another person, said my mind.

Unfortunately, I had learnt to ignore my heart's voice a long time ago. Then why not now?

I stepped out of the shower, all dressed in a loose t-shirt and shorts when I saw Carolyn staring hard at her phone, her eyebrows furrowed.

"What's up?" I asked while drying my hair.
"The next update of faded is up! I've been waiting forever, even though it's barely two days since the last one" she thoughtlessly rambled.
I gave her a weird look.
"Dont worry about it, it's a Park Jimin fanfic," she explained.

Did she just say-

"Park Jimin?!" I exclaimed.
"Yeah he's-"
"The lead singer from BTS,"

She stood up.

"You know BTS?"
"YOU know BTS?!"
"OH MY GOD!"

And the rest of the night passed away in a flash.
