*Chris’s Point of View*

“If he messes with you, you call me.”

Seth seemed ready to pick a fight on Roary’s alleged first day back.

“I doubt he’ll do anything,” I laughed. My nerves were frazzling me, but I tried not to let them get to me.

Roary probably didn’t want anything more to do with us than we did with him.

“He’s probably trying to turn a new leaf,” Dylan agreed, kissing my cheek.

“Either way, tread carefully,” Nathan warned. “He’s still a threat whether he approaches anyone or not. Don’t forget he’s the one who shot Seth.”

“I’m ready to pay him back,” Seth said darkly, his hand curled in a fist.

Haley rubbed his shoulder soothingly. “Don’t let him get to you, just relax.”

“We’ve all got your back,” Jadyn sang.

Haley punched him in the shoulder. “Don’t support violence,” she scolded.

Everyone laughed at the irony of her statement in a van full of street-fighters.

Nathan pulled into the school parking lot and found the spot we usually take towards the front.

“Good luck today everyone,” Jadyn said cheerfully once we were all out of the van.

Drooping his arm over Haley’s shoulder, they walked together into the school, with Dylan and I close behind.

Seth caught up with us, and the hallways were just as busy as always.

“Behave,” Dylan told me, smiling. He kissed me on the lips and then took Seth with him to their first period for Statistics, leaving me alone to go to Government.

I sighed; today was going to be long.

I thought about going to my locker, but the longer I was alone in the hallway, the more anxiety I felt, so I went to class instead.

So much for backbone.*Seth’s Point of View*

Amber was back in bitch mode.

And of course our presentation had to be tomorrow.

“Why can’t we all just switch between slides?” I asked her.

Her eyes narrowed at my tone and she glared up at me.
