Chapter inspired by song above ^. Not my song
Riptid3's P.O.V.
(4 years later)
In the year 2049, beaches still exist. Surprising, I know but there aren't very many of them that aren't totally trashed. One of those beaches happens to be in the Bahamas. That place hasn't really evolved, despite it being one of the top travel spots a few decades ago. But because there wasn't that much land to build homes on, it was left alone. That's why Wade and I decided to travel here. But we weren't alone.
Sitting in a beach chair, I watch Wade build a "sandcastle" with our three month old daughter. I know Wade and I are only twenty two, but it just felt so right. We got married last year and nine months after that, little Crystal was born. You can guess where that name came from. She's got many physical features from Wade, his curly hair and adorable smile, yet he claims she has my eyes. She's perfect.
I'm snapped out of my weird state by Crystal screaming with joy. I look up and I see Wade holding Crystal while a wave brushes her feet. Her arms are outstretched trying to touch the ocean. I catch a glimpse of Wade smiling and his eyes are just sparkling. I get up from the chair and head over to them.
I sit down beside Wade and he glances at me with a smile. I couldn't be happier. Crystal looks away from the glittering sea and spots me. She reaches her arms towards me and I grab her. She sits between my legs as more waves touch her toes. I look around at our private beach and spot a sand dollar to my left. I pick it up and put it in Crystal's hands. She stares at it in wonder before laughing. That causes both Wade and I to laugh. I set my hands down on the sand and watch our daughter enjoy life. Wade sets his hand on top of mine and interlaces his fingers with mine.
"I've been thinking..." he says.
"That's never good," I remark which makes him laugh slightly.
"You think we should have Crystal go to school on Ludus?" he inquires and looks at me.
"It seems like a good idea. She could easily make a lot of friends, like you and I."
"That is true, but that's years away. We can change our minds."
"Right you are, Buckaroo," I say with a smile.
"Are you going to continue to bring that up?" he remarks while trying not to burst out laughing.
"Why of course," I say with a shrug and put my attention back on our daughter. She's splashing the water with her hands with laughing. It's so precious. The sand dollar is sitting by her leg. I'm surprised she hasn't thrown it yet, since that's something she does quite a lot.
I hear Wade sigh before he speaks, "I love you, you know that right?" I look at him before replying.
"I'm aware that you do. And I love you too," I say with a smile. He returns the smile and kisses my cheek. Crystal sees Wade do that giggles. She reaches her arms out towards him like she did to me earlier. Her picks her up and starts playing with her.
I don't know how life could get any better. The OASIS is no longer under any major threats, the High Six are still in control of it, and the users appear to be enjoying themselves. I love that, but I also love my family. Wade is the perfect dad and Crystal is the perfect daughter.
This is the cause of my euphoria.
