-Shane's POV-
I was woken up by a familiar voice, " Wake up sweetie," they said as they patted my shoulder. When I was able to open my eyes, I could see that it was my mom. She was wearing a black dress with black flats. Her hair was pulled back, showing off a beautiful pair of diamond earrings.
"Wha- what?" I rubbed my eyes.
"You're going to be late," she smiled at me with sympathy in her eyes.
"Late? For what?" I asked her.
"For Joey's funeral honey," she rubbed my back," You didn't forget, did you?" she asked.
I didn't reply. I stared across the room to see a black suit draped over a chair. I pointed at it," Is that for me?" I asked. She nodded, kissed my forehead and left the room so I could get dressed.
I stood in front of the mirror as I tied my black tie.
I was still confused about all this. Just the other morning I was Joey's fiancé, eating eggs, listening to Lana Del Rey, cuddling and planning our wedding. And now I was getting ready to go to his funeral?
Was the whole thing just a dream? It felt so real when he kissed me with his soft lips and held me so close I could hear his heart skip a beat. I was about to start crying when I heard a knock on the door.
"Nearly ready honey?" a voice asked me. It definitely wasn't my mom this time as the voice was slightly deeper than hers.
"Who is it?" I asked with my hand on the handle.
"Close your eyes," the voice whispered from the other side of the door.
I did as they said and closed my eyes,"They're closed," I whispered back. They proceeded to walk in the door. Before I could open my eyes to see who it was my eyes were covered by hands.
"Guess who," they whispered in my ear.
"I don't know," I replied, quite scared.
They took their hands away from my eyes and put their hands around my waist and rested their head on my shoulder. They nuzzled their head on my shoulder in a Graceffian way. I turned my head.
"J-Joey? Joey!" I pulled him into a hug.
"Oooof" I must've hugged him too hard,"Why are you so excited to see me?" he laughed.
"Joey, do you know what today is?" I asked him, taking his hands.
"Yeah," he smiled," Our wedding day," before I could say anything, he tightened his grip of his hand and started running, taking me with him. I was so tired and out of breath to try and say anything to him.
"C'mon!" he laughed as he tugged my hand, still running. We ran down serveral hallways until we got to a beautiful little garden. It was full with every flower imaginable and the best part was, it was quiet and empty.
We sat down on the grass, our hands intertwined. "Joey," I looked at him.
"Mhhm?" he smiled as he stared in my eyes.
"What's going on?" I asked.
"What do you mean?" he asked, his smile slowly vanished.
"This isn't real. Is it?" I asked him, avoiding eye contact.
"Of course it is. Why would you ask that?" he asked, his voice shaky.
"Alot happened these past days. And it's all left my mind really fucked," I looked up at the sky. The clouds seemed to turn grey.
"Shane, I don't know what's gotten into you these past days but you need to forget about it. That was the past and this it the now. You're living in the now, not the past," he replied with a crooked smile.
