Talon woke up. “Wait,” she thought, “I’m alive? That’s new.” She took inventory. “Arms? Check. Legs? Check. Head? Seriously? Did I really just think that?” She heard a feminine robotic voice say, “My scans show the Red Lantern is waking up. I advise you come in.”
She groaned and opened her eyes. That alone was a task; it felt like her eyelids were made of lead. There was an android standing over her, its face about two inches from her own. “Ah!” Talon yelped, trying to sit up. It was then she noticed the restraints on her wrists and ankles. “I am sorry, did I frighten you? The rate of your heart beating and breathing just spend up exponentially,” the android said.
“Uh,” was all she could say, her eye still wide.
The door opened and the human Green Lantern and a strange looking alien with a blue ring walked in.
“Hello, I am Saint Walker,” the strange looking alien said, “I am a Blue Lantern. And you are?”
“Talon,” Talon replied slowly, “I’m a Red.”
“Well, that path will lead to your doom. I suggest you avoid that, child.”
“Okay?”
The human lantern then interrupted, “Okay, SW that’s enough. Oh, I’ve been meaning to ask, can I call you SW? But anyway, Talon, what are you going to do now?”
“Is going back to sleep an option?”
“Wait a few minutes. We need to talk.”
“Why?”
“Because, we need to know what to do with you.”
“I don’t even know your name.”
“Call me Hal. Hal J-“
“Goodbye, Friends,” Saint Walker interrupted, walking out.
About that time Kilowag walked in. “Huh,” he said, “We’re keeping her? What is this, a Red reform center? Well I don’t like it. Keep her away from me.” With that, he to walked out, too.
“Well, HE’S nice,” Talon said sarcastically.
“Sorry.” Hal replied, “He doesn’t like your brother all that much.”
“how did you save me, by the way?” Talon inquired.
“Saint Walker gives Green lanterns a power boost. When you were late, we found you, heard most of what Atrocitus told you, and managed to get a force shield up in time.”
“Why did you stop to listen?”
“I didn’t, pretty girl, he was yelling, pretty loudly.”
“Oh. Why hasn’t my brother came in?”
“He’s nervous. Now, my question. If I took off the restraints, would you kill us?”
Talon stared at him. Would she? They’d saved her life. She looked Hal in the eye. “No.”
Hal reached over and released her. “I’d still advise you not try running around. You nearly died. Are you going to help us in our fight against the Red Lanterns?”
“Why? Atrocitus is dead.”
“No, he used a robot. He managed to trick all of us.”
“Then yes. I’ll help.” Talon said. She shook his hand, and then gave a slight smile.
With that, Talon joined the team.
A/N: So I plan on having Talon be snarky, but you try to be rude when you wake up in a strange place with a sword wound and a weird monk guy and a 7 foot pig that hates you.
