Your fiance was one of the bravest and most charming men that you have ever met. His name was Lafayette. He was here in the colonies fighting for your cause.
You had met him when he was shot at the Battle of Brandywine. He didn’t even notice. You were a nurse working there, and had been assigned to patch him up. He flirted with you the entire time that you were working on his wound.
The two of you hit it off immediately, him asking to court you the week after he was shot. He couldn’t let you get away from him. Not that you wanted to get away from him.
Only a few months later he proposed. You were to be married once the war was over. He tried to get you to go back home, but you insisted on staying with him.
Everything was going well right now. Washington was closing in on the redcoats, and it looked as though the war would be over soon. Everyone was ecstatic.
Then an accident happened.
You and Lafayette were doing some supplies shopping for the nurses. Going to doctors and other stores, seeing what they had to spare. Although it wasn’t much.
Neither of you were on your guard that day. You ended up being jumped my redcoats.
They hit Laf on the head and he passed out, then they dragged you off while you were screaming and crying. Your attempts to fight back were in vain.
You two were separated. You were taken into a really nice house where you saw a redcoat waiting for you. He seemed like an officer.
“Please have a seat Miss Y/N,” he told you, pulling out a chair.
“How do you know my name?” you asked, moving closer but not sitting down. He laughed at you.
“As the fiancee of the Marquis de Lafayette, you are quite popular. You work as a nurse for the continental army, right along General Washington himself. This is why you are here instead of Lafayette. I think you will be easier to break,” He said giving you a dark and disturbing smile. “Sit down.”
You sat down right away, feeling scared for yours and Lafayette’s lives. He tied you wrists to the arms of the chairs.
“Alright here’s the deal. You are going to give me as much information as you have about the rebel camp, and if you refuse, your dear Lafayette will be tortured. You’ll be able to hear his screams from a mile away.”
Your eyes widened and you gulped.
“I honestly don’t know anything. I don’t go into Washington’s tent! I don’t even know the exact location or numbers of our camp! Please you have to believe me!” You cried out, trying to escape your bonds. It was useless.
“Okay.”
“Okay? That’s it?” you asked shocked. You stopped moving.
“Well not really. You see I wasn’t supposed to bring you here. The higher ups don’t care about you or the Marquis. But I do. I have a personal score to settle with him,” He told you with a giant smirk across his face.
“What do you want?” you asked cautiously.
“Well maybe I should tell you the story first. My darling wife was the love of my life. I have never loved anyone the way that I love her. But she was headstrong and stubborn. She masqueraded as a man and joined our forces. I didn’t realize until it was too late. She was reviled before we were to go out for a battle. I stood by her trying my best to protect her. But your precious Lafayette killed her. He shot her right in the chest. I couldn’t do anything.”
