We sat down at a table in the living room, our stomach grumbling as we waited for our much-needed breakfast.
The smell drifted towards where we sat, a hum of approval left our lips when we saw Jared standing there holding a plate stacked high, cream melting down the sides as the butter dripped.
With a bit of honey drizzled around them on the plate.
He stood there with a proud smile as he placed the pancakes in front of us.
"I can't cook for shit, but manuals are a life-saver," He said right before he stood back up.
"It looks so good","what's in it?" I glanced up at him with curiosity.
"A chef never reveals his secret ingredient", "but the manual will" he spoke sarcastically.
'Woah, just woah' I thought while a smile remained plastered to my face, to the point where my cheeks ached.
"Try some!" He said excitedly, he beckoned towards me to try some of his cooking.
"Hold on, I haven't finished admiring it" I gazed at it up and down, smelling it until my stomach gurgled.
"Okay, now I can eat it" I realised then that it's going to require my hands getting dirty.
That's when a fork and knife were placed on the table "Dummy! How is she supposed to eat with her hands?" Silvia muttered leaving both Jared and me gawking at her.
That's when we heard a loud clang from the kitchen "Jared! Were you cooking again!" Silvia shouted from the kitchen.
He cupped his hands into a cone shape and shouted "Yea...Why?"
"It's a mess in here! How'd you manage to get the mix on the ceiling! Also, sugar does not go on the taps! I think you burnt something too" she added with a mutter.
"That was Eloise" he shouted.
"Really? But she's better at cooking than you are!" She shouted back.
I was so engrossed in my food that I didn't realise that the whole pack had gathered in the doorway to the lounge with the sourest expressions on their faces.
A little girl rubbed the tiredness from her eyes as she mumbled "Do they weally need to shout" she yawned.
"I was having such a good dream" a guy muttered stalking in through to the kitchen.
"Oh god! Who used the kitchen last!" He shouted.
"See, I told you, Jared!" Silvia shouted after the guy did.
That's when I looked up from my half-finished pancakes to see Jared rubbing his temples, his lips were in a tightly lipped line.
He mouthed "once your done eating please meet up with me in my room, we need to talk" After that he had strolled out of the dining room.
I was left with the whole pack along with Silvia and Jake sitting around the table taking bites from my breakfast.
I glared at everyone but let them take it anyway.
"Yum! It's so good! How long did it take you to make this?" They murmured in satisfaction.
"I didn't make it, Jared did," I said, standing up and bringing my drink of milo with me.
"Enjoy guys" I spoke over my shoulder.
My feet took me up the stairs to see a door wide open, my mother slept upside down on the bed with her mouth hanging open.
Drool dripped from the corner of her mouth, her snores echoed throughout her whole room.
I grabbed the doorknob and shut the door "well that was attractive" I said sarcastically.
'how did she not even wake up from all of that?' I had to prevent myself from laughing as my hand started to turn the doorknob to Jared's room.
