Well, Diary, today has been quite the enjoyable fiasco. If you bear with me as I explain it to you, I'm sure you will find yourself far from disappointed.
You see, I spent the entire day with Blaze--Eclipse not included--and we had a great time together. We woke up early today, me because Eclipse had a bad dream and kept kicking me in his sleep (I retaliated by literally kicking him out of the bed--he wasn't very happy with me), Blaze because she wanted to see the sunrise. She joined me for a cup of coffee no later than 5:45 in the morning, and we began talking about what we wanted to do today. I suggested a nice drive on my motorcycle up to this magnificent national park I've run through before, and Blaze said that sounded nice. I was excited to explain the various possibilities there, such as homemade ice cream, gorgeous meadows with trails, and backwoods trails that lead to beautiful views of surrounding mountains. My descriptions, though short and plain, were apparently breathtaking enough that Blaze couldn't wait for Eclipse to make breakfast. She and I ate fruit and yogurt, then made to head off.
Since it's still April and was early in the morning, it was chilly, so I made sure to grab a light, waterproof jacket that I use whenever I need a light cover-up. It's a plain black, with a high collar, and makes a rather annoying swish-swish sound whenever its material brushes something, though it seems the sound comes with most any rain jacket, unfortunately. I was zipping it up, being careful not to catch my fur, when Blaze came jogging down the hallway.
"Shadow, do you have a coat I can borrow?" She asked, and I nodded. I went to my hall closet, pulling down a warm, black fleece jacket. Yes, I have a lot of black jackets, but black doesn't stain, and Rouge got both of these particular garments for me. I handed it to her, and she shrugged it on gratefully. Then, heading to the garage, I started my beast of a motorcycle. My bike is G.U.N.-issued, and it's technically the transport for Team Dark, but I lease it for private use. I'll admit to having a fondness for it, one that Rouge enjoys teasing me about. Once the engine was running smoothly, I motioned for Blaze to get on. She did, though a bit hesitantly, gripping my waist tightly and positioning her legs right behind mine.
"Ready to go?" I asked, glancing back while being careful not to raise my quills. Blaze seemed a bit nervous, but then she grinned wildly at me.
"You bet! This is so cool! I've never ridden a vehicle like this before!" She exclaimed, and I laughed.
"The giddy feeling of pure awesomeness is normal; motorbikes just have that effect on people. And, trust me, we look every bit as cool as we feel when we're riding this monster." Blaze laughed at that, and I couldn't help but feel unfoundedly proud for helping her be happy. The fact we were sitting on a revving, custom motorcycle didn't hurt, either. I pulled out of my short driveway, and we headed on our way. The wind was chilly, but my Chaos flow kept me warm and cozy; my body temperature doesn't fluctuate easily. Blaze needed a few turns to get used to the tilting of the bike, but she eventually mastered the feeling and started really having fun. As we made it out of the city and started heading up through the mountains, she laid her head down on my back and contented herself with gazing at the scenery.
Our drive together lasted several hours, but they were enjoyable hours, and we had the whole day ahead of us. We arrived at the park shortly before nine, I paid an entrance fee to the gaping attendee reaching hurriedly for a camera--we agreed to pose for a picture with him, Blaze looking surprised he'd be so interested, me finding the curiosity of humans amusing--and we started deciding what to do. There is a small history museum at this national park, along with the things I described earlier. Blaze wanted to see the museum first, so we spent about an hour wandering through dim corridors, marveling at the artifacts present. It was my first time in the museum, so I was every bit as excited as her. I even purchased her a mixed pack of postcards with the best views in the park pictured on them. She loved them; I was embarrassed because I know she has a crush on me and would cherish even the smallest gesture I made.
