When you woke up, you were curled up into Arcanine's side, a sweater bunched up around you. You looked up from your curled up position, checking the clock. It took you a few seconds to properly read the numbers, 7:30 AM. You sat for a second, thinking about it. You'd been asleep for about nine hours, and wanted to get out of Camphrier before ten, so you got up. You opened your backpack, looking for your sneakers.

You kept a random amount of things in your bag, including a pair of white sneakers. You were fairly sure that you had some beachside clothes in there too. Once you found your shoes, which were right beside your extra clothes at the bottom, you looked over at Arcanine. The big fire Pokémon was laying on his side, snoring, tail twitching slightly. You rolled your eyes and walked into the bathroom, planning to get a shower and get changed before heading out.

You'd been in the woods the day before, your face was streaked with tears, and your hair was a frizzy mess. You rolled your still puffy eyes and got to work cleaning.
It took half an hour, but you were clean. You brushed out your hair, tying it up into a ponytail before slipping your oversized sweater into your shoulders. When you exited the bathroom, Arcanine was on the floor, stretching out his back. You smiled at your companion, and picked up you bag. Arcanine shook out his fur, yawning loudly before rubbing up to you. You grabbed the room key and left, returning it to the front desk.

You and Arcanine left the hotel, getting some food from a cafe and some extra for the trip. You ate quickly, before you climbed up on his back, heading out of town towards Route 7. Once you both got out of town, you trotted down the road, smiling at the wildlife around you. It wasn't long you were moving before you made it to the bridge. It was then you noticed an Espurr following you.

You stopped Arcanine and hopped down crouching to her level. She looked hungry, and had a hurt paw, she seemed to be limping because of it. You held your hand out to her, and petted her head lightly. She purred at you a little, tottling up to you. You picked her up, holding her in your arms. "Hi there Espurr, I'm Y/n." You said to her quietly, climbing back up into Arcanine's back. You rifled through the front pocket o f your bag, looking for an Oran berry for Espurr while Arcanine continued on towards Connecting Cave.

Once you found the berry, you handed it to the Restraint Pokémon, setting her between your legs while Arcanine walked towards the Cave. Espurr happily ate the berry, leaning on your stomach while you traveled. Once the Cave was in sight Arcanine took off. You wrapped an arm around Espurr, making sure she was secure while Arcanine dashed into Connecting Cave.

...

When your father woke up, his Joltik chirped at him. Joltik was more of less his alarm system. Unlike usual, he bolted out of bed, checking the house for you. When he didn't find you, he sunk down into his chair at the table. Venalisé was in the kitchen cooking breakfast, and packing some food for them, for when she was looking for you.
Everyone was stressed, and on edge. Adrian was beyond pissed off, deciding to take off this morning to look for you. While Venalisé knew you rather well, Adrian always knew what you were thinking. He knew you were heading towards to coast. So that's where he was heading.

...

Arcanine had made it in and through the Cave in record time, exiting through the side in Cyllage City. You smiled at the cool sea air, directing Arcanine down towards the center of the city. You got down off Arcanine's back, holding Espurr in your arms while you explored the city.

You explored until it was a little after noon, and decided to head to Ambrette. You were really happy exploring unhindered by your adult caretakers. You set Espurr on Arcanine's head, looking at them, "Exploring like this reminds me of a song Mom used to play for me when we lived in Laverre." You mused softly, humming quietly before singing to the song.

"When Rome's in ruin,
We are the lions free of the Colosseums
In poison places, we are anti-venom
We're the beginning of the end," you sang softly, looking over at your happy travel companions.

"Tonight, the foxes hunt the hounds
It's all over now
Before it has begun
We've already won." You sang again, dancing a little as you walked.

"We are wild
We are like young volcanoes
We are wild
Americana, exotica
Do you wanna feel a little beautiful, baby?" You hummed a little to the tune in your head.

"Come on, make it easy, say I never mattered
Run it up the flag pole,
We will teach you how to make boys next door out of assholes." you laughed a bit after the last line.

"Tonight, the foxes hunt the hounds
And it's all over now
Before it has begun
We've already won." You sang the chorus, walking next to the big Pokémon.

"We are wild
We are like young volcanoes
We are wild
Americana, exotica
Do you wanna feel a little beautiful, baby?" You started humming again, running your hands through your hair.

"We are wild
We are like young volcanoes
We are wild
Americana, exotica
Do you wanna feel a little beautiful, baby?" You finished, just as the Ambrette Aquarium came into view.

Espurr chittered at you happily, causing you to smile. "You like my singing?" You asked her, earning a happy cry. You picked her up, and held her as you walked up into the Aquarium. A man noticed you and walked over, smiling at you in a friendly way.
"Now what's a young girl like you doing in Ambrette?" The elderly man asked, sitting on a chair near him. You sighed a little, but smiled again. "I'm moving out of the region soon, and I hadn't really explored much of Kalos, so I decided to explore before it's to late." You said softly. You weren't exactly lying, but that's not why you were exploring. You were exploring because you wanted to elongate the time frame in which you'd still be in Kalos.

The man nodded, smiling at you still. "Well, how about a gift to help your exploring?" He suggested, leaning over to his own bag, bring out a collapsible Good Rod. Your eyes widened, "I couldn't possibly..." You trailed off as he handed it to you, "Nonsense, my granddaughter wanted nothing to do with it, so I had no idea what to do with it. You keep it." He insisted, causing you to nod slowly. "Alright, thank you so much sir." You responded kindly, giving the man a light hug before heading off.

You explored Ambrette for an hour, before heading back to Cyllage City for the night.

You liked this adventure.

...

Sorry, but you won't be keeping Espurr. But! She will be in the story ^〰^!

This chapter took less time because I wasn't trying to incorporate anything from the first book. This chapter was completely independent to this story, and I had fun with it. The song Young Volcanoes by Fall Out Boy has been stuck in my head for a while, and it fit the happy attitude of the reader during the chapter.

Now, Adrian is looking for you, but will be find you before you go home? Only I know! Now, what next? Champhrier, Cyllage, and Ambrette, where to next? Geosenge Town!!
