The Reader

She was a reader
Sweet and tender
Young and fresh and rare
She was a reader
Smart and wiser
Well beyond her years
She was a reader
Who often was overlooked
Since she often had her
Nose in a book
But she didn't mind
For she was loved
By her family
And those who mattered
She was a reader
And she was eager
To have a story all her own
Her heart was whole and her mind was pure
So she dove and fell in love
Prince Charming found her
That little reader
All alone one day
Between the shelves
Between the books
One humid day in May
His sweet words
His kind smile
Was all it took for her
He showed her the world
But he gave her his heart
She gave him hers
And together they flew
But the best thing about it all
Is that he enjoyed reading too
She was a reader
But now she was in love
Her heart was in the clouds
Soaring with her man above
She was a reader
But her mind was always dreaming
Prince Charming wasn't really there
Still, she kept believing
That the hero of her dreams
Would find her just one day
Perhaps on a lonely humid day
A humid day in May.
