Depression has left me out
in the pouring rain
Letting the heavy droplets drown my body and feelings.
I am too weak to get up
And too tired to care
So I lay here, drowning
in the murky puddles
near my open mouth.
Water fills my burning lungs
And I close my eyes for the last.
But it wasn't the last time.
My eyes open fast, electric blue striking through

And I see his eyes.

He sits me up as I cough up the dirty despair and loneliness.
And he rubs circles on my spine.
As I weep, he pulls out an umbrella
And protects me from the sky's grey tears.
He sat with me in the rain,
and carried me into shelter.
I don't know why,
But I am safe.
