Chapter 24

SOPHIE'S POV

I show Layla into my bedroom to where the bathroom is. Her dirty blonde hair has huge nots in it, her body is very skinny that it is obvious she is under weight and she is covered in bruises. I don't know what is going on but my little sister shouldn't be that skinny or have heaps of bruises covering her body.

I grab a plain black t-shirt, black hoodie, my smallest track pants I owned from before I started my recovery from my eating disorder. Avril walks in handing me a small bra and some underwear she obviously must of gone out to go buy for her.

"Thank you baby," I say leaning in pecking her lips.

"You're welcome. I will go downstairs and start making us all something for lunch," she says smiling as she walks out the bedroom.

I walk out the room leaving Layla to get dressed in peace. I walk down the hallway into Avril's room where I set myself up on her bed with my lap top in hand. I quickly log onto my Facebook reading my messages from people I use to be friends with but what I realise is that I still have pictures up of Blaze and I when we use to hand out with my friends from the streets. I also found photos of Lainey, Jordy and I from hospital and once we got out.

My thoughts are broken by someone sitting down beside me. Avril. She looks at the screen making her smile fall from her face.

"You miss them don't you?" She asks looking me in the eyes.

"Yeah I do. I think about why I lived but no one else in that car did..," I say remembering the crash that killed the four other people in that car.

She pulls me into a hug as she take the lap top from my lap. She closes it as she puts it on her bedside table.

"Come on. You can come help me make us lunch," she says standing up, she helps me to my feet.

I walk out her room, following behind her as we make it into the kitchen. She decided to make frozen pizzas and garlic bread to go with it. I was surprised she was so into make us food.

I place myself up on the kitchen counter, swinging my legs back and forth.

Layla walks in with my hair brush in her hand with her knotty dirty blonde hair on display. The bruises on her body a lot more obvious because of the dirt that once coated her skin now is gone.

I haven't seen Layla in nearly 3 years. We use to be so close. I use to brush her hair, make her lunch for school and make sure she had her shoes on the right feet. She still needs me but that doesn't mean I can be there for despite how much I want to be.

"Soph, can you brush my hair?" She asks me in a low voice that cracks.

I take this chance to look at her in my super small track pants that are perfect on her skinny body, my hoodie is very big on her but what gets me is the still worn out shoes she wears.

"Yeah Lay.. Come stand here and I will brush your hair whilst Avril makes us three lunch," I say smiling moving my legs apart for her to stand between them.

She hands me the brush, I quickly and softly go to work on brushing her long dirty blonde hair that needs a hair cut badly to cut off the split ends. Her green eyes are sunken back into her face, there are scars that are obvious that weren't there when I got kicked out. I don't know what happened but I'm not letting her get hurt anymore she is my little sister I have to protect her the best I can.
