Night Drifting

As my mind flutters elsewhere, I decide to try training the quarterback again.

The quarterback looks a dark brown now that the sun is down. The shimmery copper coat that she had has vanished into thin air. I look through my window, scheming a plan to outsmart her.... PERFECT! I scream in my head.

I gather all the tack, the bridle, saddle, saddle-pad, and my brush box and start walking over to the round ring. I walk normally up to her as she silently watches thinking "What's going on?". I won't be overzealous this time, thinking I've fooled her. I'll be sneaky, "I'm the best actress on the planet." I mutter to myself, thinking the dark-bay mare will understand.

I carefully open the gate, as if I were defusing a bomb. When I turned around to put some stuff down. BANG she tries to escape. "Haha! I've learned from my mistakes girl, I know not to leave it open this time!" I say arrogantly. I swear she squinted her eyes at me for a split second until she turned around trotting cheerfully to the back of the ring, where she can see me better.

I put all the tack down and take out the first item, the brush. I walk up to her holding a treat, hiding the brush behind me. She reach's her nose for the treat and gobbles it up with one jerk of her head. I then bring the brush out and start brushing the dirt off the side of her belly. I hold her mane with one hand, while the other one is swiftly brushing alongside her fur.

She looks back 'wondering' what I was doing when SWISH she tries to bite me. Dropping the brush, I swing onto her back like a spider crawling up your hair, using nothing but her mane. That caught her by surprise, because she paused for a second then started bucking wildly. Jerking me up then down then left, right, up, down, right, down, up, left. It was crazy!

Thankfully, I kept my balance because of my legs! I've tamed many horses but she's really something!
