I waited and waited for my best friend to show up

I waited and waited for my best friend to show up. Every year before school starts, we hang out the night before school starts. We talk about what could happen and what might actually happen. Like if we get the same schedule this year or if I finally get into the ice skating finals, or that he could finally get the main role in this year's musical. His name is Jeon Jungkook. Jungkook is a total dork but he's a funny, cute and talented dork. A lot more talented than I am. Although he hates it when I talk myself down. But it's a habit that he's trying to break me out of. It hasn't stopped yet. But I have started having feelings for him, and every time I see him, the feelings grow higher like a plant. But of course I haven't told him at all. I value my friendship with him too much to tell. But I've told my closest girl friends. I can trust them with my emotions.

I kept checking my phone constantly, waiting for a text or a call of some kind. But I'm not gonna act like an overly attached girlfriend towards him. That's not who I am. But he has always said that I can count on his word that he'll be here on time. And if he's late, he'll say "I'm fashionably late!!" And of course I don't know how to respond. Nor does anyone really. But I just smile and giggle a little bit. I feel happy, knowing I have a best friend like him in my life. He's been with me through tough times and I've done the same with him. We've known each other since we were little, both of our fathers were in a fishing boat together. Every weekend, my dad would take me with him to go fishing and of course I only wanted to see Jungkook. As our father's fished, we played board games, watch movies, and have lunch together. As we grew up together, we got closer together.

A tap at my window placed a smile of my face. I turned to see Jungkook. I opened up the window so he can climb inside.

"You know, my parents don't mind if you use the front door"

"Yes but where's the fun in that?" He smiled, making me laugh.

"Whatever works for you Jungkook" I sigh, watching him pull out two subway sandwiches.

"Ooooh!! Did you get exactly what I wanted?"

"Of course!! What did you think I forgot what my best friend likes?" I opened up my sandwich, looking through what it had.

"Turkey...American Cheese...Lettuce...Tomatoes....Cucumbers...Green Bell Peppers...Ranch...Olives...Perfect!!" I smiled, giggling at Jungkook's disbelief facial expression.

"You doubted me!!!"

"No!! I just love teasing you!!" Jungkook pouted him a funny way.

"After I went through all that trouble into getting you a sandwich..."

"Oh stop being over dramatic..." I mumbled, taking a bite of my sandwich.

"But you love it when I'm over dramatic!!" He smiled, taking a bite of his. We ate the sandwiches, making a small mess of tiny food droppings on my bed.

"We're such pigs..."  I grumbled, scooping up the food crumbs and throwing them away.

"True but the food was amazing!!"

"Very!! Did you bring drinks?"

"Yes I did!!" He laughed, pulling out two sodas from his backpack.

"Okay so...." He started, gaining my attention.

"What do you expect to happen this year?"

"Hmmm....Well I hope to get on the ice skating finals this year.."

"That's awesome!! I know you'll make it!!"

"Now let's be realistic Jungkook-"

"I am!!! You have so much to offer when you're out there on the ice!!"

"Alright, what about you?"

"Well...I hope to...get the into the choir this year!!"

"You have such a wonderful voice, you'll make it in!!"

"Ah thank you...but now it's time for the realistic answers" I finish my soda after he said that.

"Alright, I probably won't make it to the finals...." I said, earning an disappointed look from Jungkook.

"That's not thinking with a positive attitude!!"

"But-"

"No!!! You will make it into finals!! And I'll be there to cheer you on!!" I blushed at his determination of trying to cheer me up.

"Alright, alright" I surrendered, putting up my hands.

"What about you Kookie?" His nickname.

"Hmmm....I just hope to have a good year in general" He replied, smiling softly with his cute bunny teeth.

"Well this was a fun visit"

"Nope, it's not over yet!!" I tilted my head.

"Our gift trade remember?"

"Oh!!"

"Here" He said, pulling a diary out of his bag.

"This is for you!"

"It's so pretty!!" It's a baby blue diary with white hearts on the cover.

"I thought of you when I saw it and thought it would be the perfect gift for you!!"

"Here you go!" I placed a cute little rabbit necklace in his hands.

"And on the back of the rabbit has the date of when we first met!!"

"Awww that's very sweet of you!"

"I wasn't sure what to get you..."

"That's ok" He replied, yawning.

"I'm glad you're my friend Wendy" He said, my cheeks turning red as a smile grew on my face.

"I'm glad you're my friend too!!" Our cheeks gushed with the colors pink and red. Once we give each other compliments, the flushed cheeks appear.

"Alright, I must go Wendy, it's getting late! I'll see you at school tomorrow!!"

"Okay Jungkook!! Bye!!" I whisper, hooking fingers with his for a small moment, then I watch him leave and sneak out of my bedroom window. Once he was completely gone, I slammed my body on the bed, squealing quietly for my parents not to hear. I grabbed a pillow and pressed it against my face. Why do I feel this way?! I don't know if I should continue these feelings for him. But it's hard, it's hard to be the best friend of a guy who charms every single girl in the school. The chances of me dating him are at a level zero. But I need to rest on this, who knows what tomorrow will bring.
