---ˈmirər/---
noun
A reflective surface, typically of glass coated with a metal amalgam, that reflects a clear image.
Sucks that that's just the simplicity of it. Mirrors contain so much. Our self confidence. Our tears. Our fears... And even a second world.

My eyes skim across my Tumblr feed, as my fingers cause the mouse to scroll down the page.
Dylan O'Brien. Kittens. Models. Food. Myths. More food. I go over in my head.
"Wait, myths?" I mumble, narrowing my eyes as I begin scrolling up a bit.
I see the usual Urban Legends like, Bloody Mary, Slender Man, Candyman and CreepyPasta. My eyes slowly fall upon one I wasn't familiar with.

It is said that there lies another world within our reach. Within a mirror. Legend has it, if you are seated in a darkened room; facing a mirror; and repeat the enchantment (below), you will be seen if you are worth it. Worth being taken. If you are, a Sarken will come and take you. No one knows for sure where or why it takes you, just that if it does, you won't be returning any time soon.
Sweet enchanting.
I just snicker to myself. How do people believe this kind of stuff? It's just some campfire story that's been passed around.
*Yo! How's ma homegirl doin? XD* A chat message pops up in the corner of my screen.
I check who it's from, and begin typing back. The message was sent front Andrew, one of my best friends. We'd basically met in middle school. I was late to class, and he was ditching PE. We bumped into each other, and started smart mouthing each other. I guess he liked my quick comebacks, and I liked his humor; because we ended up walking around campus. That happened for about a week or so. He would ditch PE, and I would purposely be tardy. We'd meet up in the gym and just stroll the hallways.
*Haha, just readin random stuff, u?* I smile, sending my reply.
*BORED D: Whatcha readin, Nerd?*
*Some random myths. Mayb I'll try one out;)*
*Be careful not 2 die!!! I need u 4 the Chem project on Mon. XD*
*Lmao XD Tht makes me feel special-.-t*
*Haha, shit! I g2g, Moms flipping her shit. Ttyl Ugly:**
I roll my eyes at his message, *Bye, AssholeXD*
I see his status go from 'Online' to 'Offline', and I reread our short convo.
Maybe I should try out the whole 'Mirror' thing. There's nothing to lose.
I pull off my full length body mirror from the wall, and place it on my bedroom floor, opposite of my bed, and shut off my light. The only light being shone into the room being the moonlight through my thin curtains.
I take my laptop off the bed, and place it on the floor, next to the mirror, and sit beside it. My eyes search for the enchantment, and I finally smile in success.
I read it a few times in my mind before speaking out loud, "Yumo-gu-guay. Fiy di zhow." I say unsure, looking at my reflection in the mirror. I repeat the chant a few times, and eventually don't need to read it off the laptop screen.
I stare back intensely at my reflection and see the moonlight shining against my dyed orange hair, making it seem lighter than it actually is.
"Adeline!?" My mom yells from downstairs, "Who are you talking to?"
I look away from reflection, and just give out a slight laugh through my nose, "No one, Mom!"
I just hear her mumble something to herself, and I take that as my cue to stop the 'ritual'. I hang the mirror back onto my wall, shut my laptop off, and climb into bed, pulling the comforter over my cold body.
Stupid incantation. I could've stalked a celebrity instead of wasting my time on that.
After what seems like hours of just twisting and turning in bed, I eventually knock out.
My peaceful sleep is interrupted, as I feel something rough, scratch against my back. I put my hand behind me to check what it is, and feel something almost like sand.
I just close my eyes again, before my mind jolts awake.
SAND?!
I sit up, and frantically look around as I feel a cold breeze hit against me, causing me to shudder.
I stumble onto my feet, and take in my surroundings. I notice I'm standing in the middle of a pathway, and the path was lined up by- trees?
The trunk of all the trees are a grass green, while the leaves were dark dirty brown.
What the-?
I hear a shuffling behind me, and instantly turn around.
I nervously let out a slight laugh, realizing what made the sound- a cat.
"Hey, Kitty." I smile, "Do you know where I am?" I ask, slowly making my towards the feline.
When the tiny kitten replies, I almost fall from what I hear.
The cat had barked. It BARKS. That small FELINE, had BARKED.
"Okay, so you're not a pretty kitty." I mumble to myself, my eyes widening as it slowly walks towards me.
I see the feline retract its claws, and I begin taking small steps backwards, putting my hands up defensively.
The animal shows off its teeth, before quickly running towards me. I hesitantly make a quick jolt following the path, and start running out of breath quickly.
Note to self:- DON'T DITCH P.E.
As I run, I look around hoping to find some kind of weapon for self defense, but the closest thing to a weapon I find is a broken branch.
I quickly pick it up, and turn towards the charging cat-dog, and without thinking, strike the stick at it.
My eyes follow the cat as it falls to ground, and I see its tail begin to vanish.
As I try and catch my breath, my eyes widen, as eventually, the whole kitten disappears into midair right before my eyes, leaving a slight purple sparkle behind.
"You fight well," I hear a snicker from behind, "for a boy."
What the actual fuck is going on?
