Adeline's POV

------------

"You would not survive!" I laugh as I walk beside Amy.

"Well, unlike you, I don't exactly have a Zombie Apocalypse plan." She defends herself.

After Christian's attempted apology, he sent a few troops out to check the perimeter of the camp to make sure we were safe. At first, he was going to send me with Nathan, but I refused to go with a 6 foot guy who was terrified of bunnies. Thankfully, Amy didn't have a partner, so her and I got teamed.

On our mini walk, the topic of zombie apocalypse's came up, and that was the moment I realized that maybe I'm just a little too obsessed with zombies.

Okay, not obsessed.

Dedicated.

Yeah, that's the word.

"Earth to Addy?" Amy's voice calls for me, "You in there?"

I snap out of my thoughts, and catch up to her realizing she's ahead of me.

"I'm just saying," I say walking beside her, "you've got to get your priorities straightened."

"And your priorities are dead people taking over the earth?" She cocks an eyebrow at me.

"Zombies aren't dead, that'd be a contradiction of terms." I reply feeling like a smart-ass.

She rolls her eyes at me, and walks ahead of me again. I let her. Instead, I enjoy the peace and quiet. The sound of the wind rustling through the brown leaves. The distant sound of birds chirping. The sound of a bush shaking behind me-

Wait, what.

I hesitantly turn around but see nothing but a brown shrub. Okay, Adeline. It's all in your head. All this zombie stuff is getting to you. I turn back around, and steadily begin heading back to camp- that is, until a hand clasps over my mouth and another around my waist.

I attempt screaming, but-obviously-fail. The beholder of the hand pulls me back deeper into the woods. I flail my arms around, at first, in attempt to pull the arm away, but then hoping to at least claw my captures eyes out. The hand tightens around my mouth and I hear a hard breathing in my ear.

The 'person' pushes me up against a tree, and the slight sunlight lets me catch a glimpse of my kidnapper, causing me to widen my eyes. I attempt to push him away, but instead, he pushes closer to me, so his body is restraining me from doing anything. His hand is still on my mouth, and his arm is still holding my waist.

"Hey, calm down! It's me!" Christians whisper-yells, slowly removing his hand from my mouth, but quickly regretting it once I start screaming like a maniac.

"Hey!" His eyes widen, "What part of 'it's me' did you not understand?!" I successfully push him away and catch the breath I didn't know I had lost.

"Oh, I understood it! That's why I started screaming!" I heavily breathe. "What the hell is your problem?!"

"I was trying to apologize to you!" He tries defending himself.

"I'm sorry, I didn't know kidnapping someone meant you're sorry!"

"Well," He scratches the back of his neck, "I don't usually apologize." He shrugs.

I roll my eyes at him, "You're an idiot." I shake my head.

"An idiot that's really sorry for ignoring you." I hear him quietly say.

Now that, ladies and gentleman, is an apology. A crappy one, but an apology.

I look at him, his eyes slightly filled with pain and- guilt?
