Adeline's POV

-------------------

I sprint behind Christian and eventually find myself back at camp. I look left and right desperately trying to find him.

He had seen something in that forest, and it obviously scared the shit out him. Which was odd, considering he thinks he's freaking Superman.

I spot Nathan and walk over to him, attempting to catch my breath, but failing miserably.

"Christian .. Where .. Is he?" I barely got out between breaths.

What can I say? Running and I don't get along. At all.

Nathan snickers at my condition, "I saw him head over to his tent. You two have some breathtaking fun?" He smirks winking, causing my cheeks to involuntarily blush. I just roll my eyes at him, and, very, very, slowly make my way towards Christian's tent.

Christian's POV

---------------------

*rewind a tad bit*

Adeline and I both notice the sun beginning to rise, and I help her onto her feet. Her eyes seem to always have something going on in them, because she seemed to be lost in thought.

I consider myself right as she speaks, "You wanted to say something." She says quietly.

"What?" I ask her.

She makes eye contact, "You always want to say something more than you actually speak." What? "But you speak and do only as much as a tribe leader would." I
What on Earth- how can she say that? I mean, yeah, I'm reserved to a certain point, but that's not wrong, "You've got to loosen up, Chris," my thoughts all scatter in my mind as my stomach drops at her calling me Chris, "you're only nineteen and you act like you're thirty." Her eyes break contact, but I continue to look at her.

I'm not even offended. I know I should be, but the only thing I can think of is- nineteen. Act nineteen. Loosen up. Be chill. Listen to Adeline.

My mind snaps out of my control as I see her turn around to leave, and my arms extend and I grab her by her waist and push her up against a near by tree.

No! I think to myself, Stop! The Queen strictly forbid you to be nice to her. Kissing her is bound to be beyond wrong!

After my very brief argument with myself, I quickly snap back into reality and realize my lips are against hers.

My hands are tightly around her, one around her waist, and the other around her mid back. Her arms are stuck between us, but can I feel her small hands clinging onto my t-shirt.

I kiss her, and she kisses back. Every second that passes, I try and convince myself this kiss means nothing. Nothing. Because if I think for even a moment this is something, it's going to hurt like hell to let her go.

Eventually, she pulls apart, and I hear the both of us trying to catch our breath.

I look down at her face, and smile. She's actually... Pretty. And... She's a gift. That's all. Nothing more. Nothing less. She's the Queen's gift. She's the Queen's property.

But, hey, The Queen isn't here to stop me.

I kissed Adeline, she's smiling- which is amazing. Everything's good.

"How's that for loosening up?" I smirk, noticing I have the capability to make her blush.

As I'm about to lean in to go for Make-Out Session- Round Two, my eyes catch a glimpse of something that makes my stomach drop.

Rafael. No, no, no, no, no. He isn't supposed to be here. Not here. Not now!

"Hey, you okay?" I hear Adeline's voice.

Rafael smirks, and mouths something I just barely make out.

'You are screwed.'

I quickly push away from Adeline. She slowly comes towards me, but I just turn and sprint away from her- well not really her. I sprint away from Rafael.

But she doesn't know that, goddamit! She thinks I ran away from her!

Who is Rafael, and why am I afraid of him, you may be wondering.

Well;

He's what you would call a 'pixie'. He may be no more than three inches tall, but he could tear a person apart.

I head back to camp, and avoiding everyone, walking straight into my tent.

"Well, well, well. What do have here? Why's my girl upset?" An all too familiar voice squeaks.

I growl as the small green pixie shows himself, and floats in front of my face.

"What the hell do you want?" I snarl.

"I want to know why you were kissing the Queen's gift." He smirks.

"I wasn't. She was.." I try and think up a lie, "she was kissing me." I lie, quickly biting my tongue.

"Oh?" He cocks his tiny eyebrow, "I bet the Queen will be most pleased to hear about this."

"No!" I quickly stop him by grabbing him by his tiny wings, "It won't happen again." I let him go, "I- I promise." I gulp.

Promise.

Promise.

Why did I promise that?!

If you break a promise in the Mirror World- well, you don't break it. If you do, you die.

"Let's hope so." Rafael snarls, "Now, do you know what you're going to do so I don't tell the Queen about this?" He smirks. I look at him expectantly. "Make the boy cry, make him feel awful, make him regret kissing you." He spits, "I know you can do it." He smiles evilly before buzzing out of my tent.

I need to make Adeline cry.. I know she hated me before, but now.. Oh, Lord, have mercy.
