You gasped in pain and surprise as you jerked your hand away from both of his. You looked at the mark on your hand in confused awe.
You looked back up at the Outsider.
"Ohdear...he'squitegoodlooking."
The Outsider smiled. "Ah, well, thank you, My Dear, you do flatter me so."
You blushed. How could he have known what you were thinking? He gave a small laugh, a delightful sound that made your heart skip a beat.
"My Dear, if you would follow me there is something I'd like to give to you."
You nodded, and followed him. The manner in which you two walked practically mirrored the walk you and Corvo took that morning, but there were many differences. The Outsider, for one, who you thought was a mere tale to scare children into being good was right next to you. He seemed much more comfortable around you than you were with him. He acted like he's known you for years, but you only just met him. Had he stalked you?
A million questions rang throughout your head, each with the desire to know its answer.
He stopped suddenly, and you gave him a curious eye. He gave you a small smile.
"Now, My Dear (Y/N), do close your eyes, as this gift can be quite....troublesome to many."
You were worried at that statement, but closed your eyes anyways. Suddenly, a heavy weight filled your hands and you opened your eyes. A heart interlaced with clockwork and sticks to keep it together. Clearly patch worked, and clearly done by the Outsider himself.
Horrifying yet beautiful.
He looked at you with a sly grin.
"It'll help you find runes with my mark on them."
You nodded, and was about to say something when he interrupted. "Why don't you try it out?"
All of a sudden he vanished. You gasped, and looked around until the heart started to beat in your hand. Your eyes looked upon it as it started to glow while pulsating.
Following it, you figured out that the faster it beat, the closer you were to the rune. You started running, vaulting over things in your way until you came to a cliff. You knew you couldn't pass it until your mark started to give off a faint light. You looked at it and smiled softly.
You used the mark to teleport over to the other side, being that you could only use it as short distance anyways. All you had to do was snap your fingers. It was as simple as that.
Once you got to the shrine where the rune was, the Outsider was there.
"Bravo, My Dear (Y/N), bravo." He smiled at at you and handed you the runes. "It seems we are out of time....until we meet again, I suppose."
