You looked to where the window crashed, and saw a figure wearing a mask. Even though you couldn't see the mysterious man's face, you recognized the clothes.

It was Corvo.

You hid a delighted giggle, and watched him from your hiding place. He was looking around, and as he snuck about you were impressed by how silent and agile he was. With the heavy clothing and boots, you thought he would've made a noise or something.

You studied him closer, still staying in your hiding spot. Your eyes fell to his hand, and he had a mark just like yours on the back of his hand. You gasped, and his head snapped over to where you were hiding. You tried to make yourself seem smaller as he stalked over to you.

You felt scared, and nervous, but happy that Corvo was here. You weren't sure why he was here, but you assumed it was some sort of diplomatic mission to save Lady Emily.

She was the late Empress Jessamine's daughter, and heir to the throne. Corvo's most important acts were always to protect her, and her mother. A mere servant girl like you wouldn't qualify for a rescue mission from Corvo Attano.

But, alas, you were wrong. As Corvo took off his mask, you saw how worry over Lady Emily and a guilty conscience had aged him beyond his years.
"M'Lady, I'm here to bring you back.."
"My dear Lord Protector, I thought we had decided to drop the formalities..."

He smiled at that, and held his hand out. You placed your hand in his, and he noticed the mark. He raised an eyebrow at you, and his eyes were full of curiosity and a slight bit of pity.
"He has visited you, hasn't he?"

You have him a confused look. "He?"

"The Outsider."

You nodded, "Yes, but only once."

Corvo nodded at the statement. "Shall we take our leave, (Y/N)?"

You giggled. "I do believe that we shall, Corvo."
