"Loraine! No!" Loki screamed.
In his anger, a huge blast of energy waved throughout the entire battlefield, throwing out hundreds of chitauri soldiers.
Thor, and the others, upon noticing his anguish, stopped amidst their fight. They turned to look at him and saw Loraine wounded in the heart. Everything seemed to have slow down before them.
Loki knelt to the ground and gathered Loraine's dying body to his chest. "Stay with me," his voice quivered. But her eyes rolled back in response and her body went limp. Loki's trembling fingers touched her neck and to his luck, he found her slow pulse.
Rage and anxiety began to flame inside his body as he noticed the ugly gash on her chest. A lot of blood started to seep out quickly that he feared Loraine might not make it to the infirmary.
The last time they were in this position, it was him that was dying, catching him aback for he hadn't expected death back then. Yet, with all the dreams and visions warning them for days about her death, the horrifying scene in front of him made him blame his self. He shouldn't have agreed to put her in the fight. Had he stopped her sooner, maybe none of this would have happened.
Frigga dashed to his son's aid. "I did everything I could," she told him. As a master of sorcery, she had unraveled the dark enchantment inside her awhile ago when Loki had kept her distracted. That was why some memories of Loraine came back.
"The spell on her head was truly complex. I had almost finished it but..." she trailed off.
"But you did took out most of them?"
Frigga could only nod. "My son," she knelt with him. "We shan't waste time. I'll take her back inside the palace."
She noticed the tears dripping from Loki's face as he stared at his lover's frail body. Everyone always perceived him as a frozen monster, incapable of sentiments. However now, there was no mistaken that Loki loved the girl so much that he was mourning.
Frigga's heart ached at his son's sadness and pain.
"Let me take her," Frigga insisted when Loki stood up, carrying Loraine in his arms.
"No," Loki croaked between hidden sobs.
She rested a hand on his shoulder and looked at his son softly. "Loki, I will do everything I can..." Seeing the huge wound, Frigga paused, slowly doubting the extent of her powers. Nevertheless she continued, "to heal her. Son, you are needed in this battle."
Loki shook his head. "No. She needs me," he argued.
"Loki, trust me," Frigga insisted. "Please."
When it came to trust, Loki almost never entrusted anything valuable of his except for his mother. He knew how capable enough Frigga was as a master of sorcery and mystical arts. However, for a second he looked at her with eyes filled with agony and exasperation, uncertain if it was the right decision or not. He had been selecting a lot of wrong choices already.
Without a word, he made up his mind and settled Loraine back to the ground slowly. Frigga looked at him once, nodded and then she disappeared in a green mist with Loraine.
"Loki, what happened?" Thor asked as he rushed to him.
Loki eyed the battlefield for the murderer and found no one holding a bow and arrow. Chitauris were creature who weaponized themselves of advanced firearms thus, it was unlikely that the killer was somewhere around. He crouched to the ground and saw a fallen feather, coated in silver.
"Mother almost got to her. It was almost done but some imbecile," he spat. "Attacked her," Loki gave the feather to Thor.
"Who could've..."
Loki waved a hand and the feather materialized to dust. "Let's just end this brother!"
Thor stared at him for a second and nodded in agreement. He twirled his hammer in circles and flew up towards a Leviathan. Meanwhile, Loki darted to the nearest enemy, cut its throat and threw the body away to another pack of chitauri. They tried blasting him off with another bolt but he deflected, absorbed and threw the energy back towards them.
With hot angry tears gushing from his eyes, he swung his arms to the side and immediately his body pulsed in green as he summoned all his powers towards the clouds. The atmosphere rumbled and the skies turned gray and misty, distorting as if it was forming a tornado. Everyone looked at him, confused if he could summon lightning as well, but when they heard a shrill roar, they looked up and saw huge obsidian dragons falling from the skies in Loki's command.
With rage, he flung his arms up and the dragons blew fire towards the enemy, killing and burning all of them. The chitauri clan chattered in animosity, tried to hurl their guns back up and fight, but two of the dragons thundered down, swatting and throwing them away.
"Fear me!" Loki shouted to the skies as he warped reality to obey him. "I am Loki of Asgard!" The dragons roared in compliance to their master and they massacred every enemy without mercy, thrashing, pounding, and spitting fires to the battlefield. They dominated the area that the Leviathan seemed as if it was a mere toy in comparison with Loki's dragons.
"Burn!" He screamed and all around him; the soldiers, the Warriors Three, and the deities of Asgard fought more fearlessly upon his confidence, slaying dozens of chitauris.
Thor with Heimdall clashed with the last Leviathan, finishing it off with another strike of lightning. As the Leviathan screamed one last time, it fell towards the ground and the chitauri from inside its body jumped . The Warriors Three came to Thor's aid and fought alongside with them.
Dead chitauris grew slowly in numbers within a few minutes of fighting, slashing, hacking and magic. Soon, the battlefield cleared up and the noise muffled down. In exhaustion, Loki staggered, inhaled a deep breath, and noticed half of what was left in the war.
They won.
In triumph, Thor flew down towards Loki and clasped him in the back. The weight of his hand, almost made him stumble but he managed not to. Loki turned to look at him.
"I did not know you could summon dragons," he said in amusement.
Loki only stared at him and then he looked at his pets. The dragons had settled down a few feet away from them, looking at him as if they were waiting for more commands.
But now, there were none.
With another wave of his hand, the dragons melted away in green mist and returned back up towards the skies in the form of clouds.
"Thor," he said, pointing out his name. "I have to go." And with that, just like how the dragons were gone, Loki disappeared in front of his brother in haste
