The infirmary was packed with healers and nurses, all working to heal as many fallen Asgardian soldiers from the battle. Rows of glassed beds paraded the room, as many as usual with bronze lights floating above the patients as the healers worked their magic.
Frigga managed to teleport on one empty bed: a chamber, for healing. Looking around, she noticed all the other healers busy on their tasks so she had to treat her alone. She slowly laid Loraine down the bed and powered the machine.
Bronze light flickered and a hologram image of her physical body: muscles, veins, blood and etc. hovered above Loraine. Loraine was Frigga's first patient in centuries and to her luck, it was the lover of Loki. She took a deep breath and started to weave her hand through the holographic picture, focusing on the huge gash on her chest.
The lights glowed and the arrow, on Loraine's chest disintegrated into nothing. Frigga zoomed in on the hologram and knitted streaks of light on the holographic chest of Loraine.
Out of nowhere, a whirl of perfumed wind appeared beside her. Frigga took a glance and saw Freya on the other side in her armor. Her face was smothered with a bit of blood and her red hair was dangling out of exhaustion.
"This was your doing wasn't it?" Frigga whispered and began to work again.
The goddess of divination walked around Loraine, her cursed child --- a cursed Liv. "Mmm, I had to do what I must," Freya replied. "You ought to know that."
"My son will not tolerate your doing," she warned.
"He will never find out." Freya stared at the Amulet. It rested on Loraine's neck as it gleamed faintly in red. "One thing led to another...My disappointment, my curse, Loki," she looked at Frigga and they exchanged glances for a second. "Her," she continued. "I assure you, it is fate at play, my queen."
"A fate crafted by you, I suppose."
"No, I merely did what the Tree has prophesized me to do," Freya replied.
Frigga pulled out a string of light and braided it with another. She managed to point out the source of the bleeding then she tried to mend her wounds with magic. However, Loraine's body was refusing to cooperate. With every spark of Frigga's sorcery, Loraine's body pulled up defenses. "The Amulet is yours, isn't it?"
"Yes."
Frigga looked at her hardly. "It is maintained by Runes and it's drawing away her life force," she sneered. "Your magic is deliberately refusing my ability to heal her."
Freya, The Seer, took one last look of Loraine; her cursed child and then replied, "let her die," simply. She started walking towards the doors of the infirmary but Frigga stopped her.
"I don't think this child is a mere noble you can take to Valhalla."
With this, Freya agreed and nodded. "No, this child is more than that. Now if you will excuse me my queen, I have other matters to attend to, such as my fallen warriors. They are waiting for me to escort them to Valhalla."
Frigga furrowed her eyebrows in confusion. "And what of her?"
Freya only pursed her lips, then she disappeared in another scent of roses.
The Queen of Asgard knew of Freya's immense power when it came to destinies and fates. As the goddess of divination, Freya had a close relationship with Yggdrassil so much that she could alter and design destinies to her liking. Whatever was happening, she knew for one thing, that Freya's created future could not be altered.
As if on cue, the holograms above Loraine's body flared in red and the machine beeped in warning. Frigga turned towards the bed and noticed Loraine's amulet consuming the technology's capacity to heal. With sweat beading on her forehead, Frigga focused and spun the threads of light more with her magic.
